    Smile Tree Frog

    Hello!

Here is my latest finished work. The render is small, I know! I intended for it to be larger but when I was done this is what I got. The interesting part is that it was rendered in ZBrush and composition with a background in Photoshop. Base model of the frog and branch was modeled in Max a long time ago and then sculpted and textured in ZBrush.

The render engine with materials and lights is new to me and takes a while to get to grips with but packs a bigger punch than I first thought. I will explore this further and hope to feel at home with it soon.

I really love the polypainting. I used to hate the whole texturing part, now I think it is half the fun. So I'm rambling, The materials, light and so forth might not be 100% but it is my first real render with ZBrush. If you have any thoughts on perfecting it pleas let me know!

    Cheers,
    P

    Default nicely done!

love it. I'm always amazed when folks get such good renders from zbrush. I just can't figure it out myself. Can you give any settings/lighting/etc. that you're using here?
The only think I think it's missing is some specular to show off it's froggy wetness. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the composition, but it isn't terrible. Kind of reminds me of that old poster of the cat hanging onto the clothes line "hang in there!".
    Anywho... good work.

maybe if u make the material of the frog a little more more glossy and that it reflects the enviroment it would fit perfect nicely done

    Default Render Flow

    Hey there!

Thank you for your replies. I am not a render guru, as I said before this is my first real project rendered in Zbrush. I try to pick up bits and pieces from others on this forum and through the tutorials on the wiki. Read birth tutorial, it gave me some insight. But there is no exact tutorial that gives you specific settings so you will have to go at it on your own by trial and error. A good start is to use the existing shader as a base and adjusting them as you go! One of the things I have problems recreating is subsurface scattering, which would have given the frog a more realistic touch. Hopefully I will figure that one out one day.

I used to render in Max but I have limited access nowadays and spend most of that time for base modeling. Have been looking at Modo as an alternative but all these packages are tough on the budget for a freelancer. Until then I will probably use Zbrush for my work and learn more about the engine.

Here is my render flow so far, I hope it helps!

I agree that it should be more glossy. Try to increase specular level.

    Hi there Kikoshi!

No problem, glad I can help!

When you have painted your model and want to apply a separate shader make sure the "MRGB" and "RGB" buttons are unchecked and only check the "M" button!

Then go to Color and press fill object.

Checking the RGB will only fill your model with selected color!

Checking the MRGB will fill your object with selected color and shader!

    Hope this answers your question.

    Peace,

Default Love your frog and want to use it

    Hi,

I have a job on the go.

Want to sell your model? Does your model come with bones so I'd be able to manipulate different poses and animate?

    Cheers

    leswilson3d!

To your question of purchase. It never crossed my mind until now. The frog was modeled posed and created as a study and for this image only. I made the base mesh a long time ago in max where I posed it and exported to Zbrush. The rig was crude since I'm an illustrator and not animator!

So there are no bones or rig left, just the posed model!

    Cheers/
