way to go troy, that scene with the lion is great, although do deer like that exist in africa? i have no clue. at first i thought it was strange that the lions head was so raised, in my mind they are always lower, but i watched some videos and that is the way they look, for some reason though the scene is not as dramatic, it almost looks like they are just playing chase and are the best buds, like dogs playing, i don't know. still really like it and the dirt floating in the air is cool. nice job on the water buffalo too. both of these could use some foliage.
is that a 69 mustang? can't wait to see you hit it with some of the new hard surface brushes. looking good, the mags are nice. if it is the mustang the side windows are backwards.
hey bro looks good!i really like the deer u did a great on him u do good with deers i also really like the one u drew on the wall in your room man its awesome!!
A lot of people like that one not just me!! it reminds me of deer back home we used to get. the wildernessbeast is good too spot on as pete would say lol.. the lion needs a tail man.
ur shelby gt is awesome n cool
it really needs some finish work and detail done to it though but its a nice ride
keep it up lil bro
ttyl..
Troy1617: Really enjoy the these last ones, very interesting concept zsketch going on. Though the animals are looking very cool, the use of the movement in the terrain to help capture a more dynamic image is very appealing. Also nice ride, be neat to see more updates on that as well. Keep knocking em out bud, I'll be waiting for more.

nice stuff dude, you are improving every step of the way, with the newer models looking more accurate than the previous ones. I highly recommend the planar brushes from 3.5, i think those make hardbody models that much better to do in Zbrush than in a traditional 3d package.
Just wondering, where do you get all the animal references for your works, any particular site worth of mention?

hey Gary Komar thanks glad you lke it..
hey spaceboy412 thanks glad you like the lion im really finding sketch spheres interesting in what they are capable of.. yeah they do supposedly there are small herds of red deer there i thought it was kind of weird to when i heard it maybe i should have of made an antelope instead.. yeah there in a static pose for now cant seem to get the posing to work right when rigging it with an armature especially on the zaxis when rotating i hope this is fixed by zbrush 4.. yeah i agree still figuring out a good way to make foliage and plants and grass with zkiffs i am understanding them more though.. yeah i was going for 1968 shelby gt 500 but still working on it right now yeah im still experimenting with hard surface brushes got distracted with other things though.. so hopefully i wll update it soon..
hey Les thanks glad you like the deer yeah i still need to finish the mural on the wall as well as get back into painting..yeah im not sure about the wildebeast it still has a ways to go before theres a likeness.. happy your satisfied with the shelby so far i thought you might like it..
thanks AngelJ glad you like them still getting used to zskiffs but i am learning.. yeah that lion sketch was just a test to see what sketch spheres are capable of doing.. yeah still working on the car hope to have updates soon hope to see some more work from you soon..
hey KonginChains thanks im glad there is noticeable improvement in my work i try to improve with every new work.. yeah i have been experimenting with them hard surface brushes some times i can get the result im going for but most of the time its hit and miss with them.. but they do come in handy i will try to incorporate them more in my work flow..
well i have been collecting books and animal reference since i have had a passion for them since i was young..
some sites you may find useful for reference are..
http://www.corbisimages.com
http://www.arkive.org/
and of course google you can find many there..
also videos help to i have large amounts of animal footage i have acquired over the years and use it often when trying to see what a shape or form looks like from all angles
as for books some of the ones i have been using are..
An Atlas of Animal Anatomy for Artists http://www.amazon.com/Atlas-Animal-A.../dp/0486200825
Animal Anatomy for Artists: The Elements of Form http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Anatomy...d_bxgy_b_img_b

or are we the crazy ones ?![]()
hey Moni-Poroni thank you i really like your work as well.. i like to do animals the most..
hey Disco Stu thanks glad you like it so far.. the only mad part about doing it was creating the tires entirely out out sketch spheres but so far im surprised what they are capable of i hope they continue to be integrated with every new release im looking forward to what new features get integrated.. were all crazy in our own way it depends on how you look at it..
experimenting with hard surface brushes should have something new soon....

Hi Troy,
I just got through looking through your thread, great stuff here. You really have a feel for animals, my favorite subject matter.
Really interesting what you are doing with the zspheres too, I haven't had a chance to try them yet. It looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks for posting all of the reference links, I am going to check into some of them for myself.
Keep up the great work.
BTW, your dog on post # 138 of the dog has such a wonderful feel to it, he is my favorite I think. I really like the forms you built up on him.
Heather
hi DirtRunner im glad you like my thread that makes me happy that you say that because i have always felt animals had had a special place in my heart i really hope that drawings and painting get better as my zbrush skill progresses. yeah zspheres are amazing in what there capable of with a little planning but i do hope that pixologic in time will adapt some type of voxel technology like 3d coat has or something similar to sculptris localized subdivisions, from what i tried i really like what sculptris has done. your welcome i have been collecting reference my whole life books, video and pictures they all help me alot to get my structure right when i choose a specific animal. actually truth be told i always wanted be a zoologist or marine biologist before i became sick , so since then i have tried to take my love that i have for animals and make art with it.. yeah that dog was just a quick demonstration i was doing for my brother because he asked me to show one of his friends that walked into my room because he really thinks im good at it so the sat on the bed and watched me sculpt for 30 to 35 minutes, the funny thing about him though was in my earlier work i never put the eyes in till last so when i asked him if he thought it looked some what good he would always say "it doesn't look right it needs some eyes" it always frustrated me because i was always focused on the structure and foundation never to spheres i could just append later on so i have started to add eyes early on lol...
i just wanted to say i love your work and the life you put into each peice it really helps inspire me to put more effort into my own.
thank you for your continued support hope to see some more work from you soon..
today was the first day i have felt good enough since my last post of my helicopter so i do apologize for the absence of being gone since i really only ever start something if i feel good enough most times its hard to start something , i would really like to finish a sculpt to completion if i feel good enough. but just know that i really do consider this place as my family.
anon i hope to see you back here soon, i will be praying for your return to the forum, my deepest thanks to you for helping me get where i am today since i last joined this community..
today was a good day for me so i managed to sculpt this roughly in using the reference from Cyclopedia Anatomicae, http://www.amazon.com/Cyclopedia-An...58487925&sr=8-1 i am hoping we get the ability soon to do transparent over lay which was mentioned in the is video http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=071829 it would really make proportion checking easier, im going try to work on this more would like to complete it. th whole sculpt was done how i would use clay in the real world, so everything you see is from spheres and the tale is made with a single chain of zsheres, i really like work ing this way and will probably continue to work this way unless pixologic integrates some kind of voxel technology in the near future or something along the lines of what sculptris has done i really love the freedom of it alot. let me know what you all think as far as proportion, i have only put work in to the body and legs so far haven't really touched the head that much...
oh on a side note im trying to get into modo is there any body that has any good render setups they wouldn't mind me using as a stage to get some descent lighting of my model because i have seen some great results from the renderer and all i really have ever used is zbrush for rendering because im thinking of getting the lighting studio http://www.luxology.com/store/SLIK/, that luxology came out with recently it looks promising... thanks again for your help..![]()

thanks - FoOD - love seeing your work and your hard surface work flow.. it makes me happy i am showing improvement in my work and strength in my forms. looking forward to seeing your next piece always inspiring seeing what you come up with..
hey sorry for the absence just got back from visiting my newly born niece from up north she was very beautiful and work of art her self. i am taking a break from the lion for now till zbrush 4 comes out so i can use reference overlay in the new features zbrush4 will have i think me and space have waited long enough.
wanted to ask some one here if they can tell me how to set up a large format wacom intous 4 to mirror the medium sized standard intous 3 what would i have to do to acomplish this because large intous 4 for zbrush is far to tireing to sculpt with,.. thanks again for any help or advice you can give me on this matter..
well here are some more sketches, first the start of digital bust of a semi serious clay sculpture im working on at the moment which will only be the second one i have ever done will post pictures of it when its farther along, hopefully you will like the outcome. also i did quick portrait of a friend when i went over for dinner. thanks again to all of you for your continued support..good to be back...
