    Default Supreme Power Fan Art

I re-made the front cover of one of my favorite comic books "Supreme Power" using Zbrush3 and Maya. It's by Marvel Comics and it's basically thier stab at Super-man. Except this one isn't raised by farmers. Mark Milton is raised by the American Government as an effective weapon against communism, unless perhaps he finds out he's been lied to his whole life...

I decided to do this pic after I finished reading the comics, as well as because I have never modelled a childs face before. From what I've heard, ( or whats floating around my head ) is that childrens faces are one of the most challenging subjects to sculpt , draw, zbrush etc, because of thier subtleness. I'll try to post some turntables as well as some wire frames soon.

First off I just want to stress how awesome this comic is and that everyone go out and buy it, and special thanks to the main artist, Gary Frank for the incredible original composition. Secondly, this is my first post and hopefully the start of a wonderful relationship with the Zbrush Community. So critiques and comments are very welcome, and I hope to annoy people with my horrible grammar and punctuation well into the future well into the future! So if my image acctually shows up in my first post, enjoy!

Beautifull work...love his expression. Can you post shaded screens (to have a better look at the model itself?

WOW!!!.... I’m amazed by your fabulous model; it is simple, yet has an interesting look and feel. Is it possible for you to post the creation process?

That is simply a beautiful and strong scene. I love the attention to detail like the stitching in the flag. And great composition. I think adding more cracks and destruction to the marble, following closer to the original, would give it even greater impact. Reading your discription of the comic, I would guess the symbolism of standing on a shattered foundation is important to the piece. Otherwise great work.

Great render. I agree with Intervain, on the flag. I know the eye is held by the face and the upper details of the flag, but mine wandered a bit and noticed the same detail was not present in the lower parts of the flag. Still top notch though.

    Hey Ty,

Great work man, like I've said before, I love the subtle details in the flag. As someone mentioned earlier the base of the flag becomes a bit flat. I would have liked to have seen a bit more put into the marble base and maybe something behind Mark, more like the comic (doesn't have to be exactly the same though).

Other than that, great work! Now go get started on your next project!

Powerful and emotional.. Love the angriness in the boys face and posture. And you pick up the atmosphere of the original perfectly...

Great work, i especially love the wrinkles from the seams in the flag.

Sorry for the really overdue reply! Wow thank you all so much, especially all of the constructive criticism. As soon as I have a bit of time I really think I will touch up the few area's that were discussed, such as the flatness of the bottom of the flag as well as the lack of detail in the marble base. Im also trying to think of something to help the background a bit. The original has the blue canvas to help it out but I don't really know what I would do in 3D, any ideas?

Just to answer a few questions,

Jaidek- It was rendered in maya mentalray originally at 2k and scaled down.

j lizzle - wow, I never thought of the cracked marble in that way, but it makes sense. All the more reason to fix it up!

Plunq-Hey buddy! Thanks a bunch for the post, I'm glad you liked it, (just for everyones info I made him read the books) and really thanks for the continuing critical eye, I'm sure your critiques will continue to hone my skills well into the future.

Malleable man- Originally I was acctually going to count on depth of field to take care of a lot of those problems, but wasn't happy with the result and rendered it without. But then arose another problem, but yeah i really do want the entire image to catch the eye the way the face and upper flag do, so check back soon! ( not too soon tho im kinda busy, lol )

NaughtyTwin - The creation process wasn't that elaborate, basically I sculpted the head in Zbrush, as well as a very very simple stand in childs body. I then used 3dsmax cloth , to get a rough cloth to start sculpting on. Exported displacement and bump maps from the final zbrush sculpt and textured , lit , and rendered in photoshop and maya!

    abe_Tamazir - here they are!

and here is a turntable of the model

again, thank you all so much for critiques and comments, I only answered the questions, but really thanks for all of the possitive and helpful feedback.

    -Ty!
