Utapau Man WIP
I drew a little inspiration from the Utapau characters in the last Star Wars movie to create this bust using ZBrush 3. Its actually been a great exercise as I try to get my head around some of the new ZB3 features and I hope to eventually finish this as a fully rendered model.

Some more work on the Utapau Man head sculpt.
-
Coming on nicely MHC, good to see you're still ZBrushing...
-
Just a quick texture test...

It would probably be easiest to model it in Maya, or 3ds Max. Then just import it as a subtool and detail it in Zbrush.
-
Paint masks for the lines, invert the mask, push all of the unmasked parts (the lines since its inverted), invert the mask, smooth and pinch the area directly around the lines, at some some depth to the other areas with the clay brush. Remove the mask. ;-)
Crits- Your head is too wide and not quite the same shape as the sculpture. The nose is pointed downward alot more in the sculpture. I think the cheeks are bonier in the model too.

I really like your model, but the nose in the front on view looks a bit stange in a side on view it looks great and I get what your going for with it I just think you could work on the front a bit.
Cheers...

I managed to work out the pattern on the robe using a custom alpha and projection master. Now to tidy up the eyelids and miscellaneous details.

looking good so far! keep it coming!

I really like this, nice work MHC, really like the cloth design, worked out nicely...

A little more work. Started working on the general eye area and played a little with some texturing. I stil have a ways to go... need to adjust the overall shape of the head and fix the jaw which is bothering me a bit. I'll probably redo the robe again before I begin texture mapping/coloring.

Getting closer to a final image... this is a quick test render done in after effects using zborntoy and some lite comp work done in PS. I will be reworking my final texture map to include more detail on the eyes and leather and I will be adjusting the model slightly in the final composition. I'll also be experimenting with some additional renders using normal mapping in AE which I hope will bring out the final bit of detail to bring it all together.

Alright... near the home stretch now... I tweaked the bust to have a slight tilt to it and reworked the texture on the head. The suit itself still needs some help. I'll probably remodel it and throw on a better leather texture. Played with some type treatments just to get a feel for the final image... I may change that up so that its not so prominent in the render.
