how to make beard and Hair

Please help  I’m detailing my first model made in 3dsmax in zbrush.
I’m quite satisfied with the first part of the modelling. I’m modelling a face of a statue.
the problem is that I wat to add a very simple beard and hair and mustache (sculpted like the one of a statue… no fiber). I’ve search the tutorials but sfound nothing that can help.
Any hints ? Any links
Every help is very very appreciated

Eh, why do you need a tutorial for it? You sculpt it just like you would any other detail. Use your brush, drag out some geometry, then push it around.

take a look at some reference images and there you have it.

Thanks for the help… it seems a bit tricky but I will give it a try

I agree with the idea that zbrush is getting closer tp tradional sculpting. Though it has a way to go…I’m not using a wire to cut chunks of clay or having to wedge anything…oh…that would be good to not have to do. Back to what I was saying.

I believe a good technique is important when creating anything. Duplicating what you see is a most important part of art, as michelangelo would agree, but if someone has a good technique for creating what one sees, take reference. I hope you can find a good tutorial for what you are looking for. I understand the value in that. That said, don’t be afraid of figuring it out yourself until then.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for…

1, In edit mode apply noise 1 and play with settings to make the rough shape of textured hair, after editing use the snake hook brush with the apha 07 to pull out the strands.

I find the best way to paint hair is using the DecoBrush. With this brush you can achieve some nice effects because of the fluid way that you can paint with it. To get the best results, the use of a good tablet with pen pressure becomes essential. Before starting the hair painting I baked the layers (ctrl+b) and started the long hair painting for the head, beard, eyelashes and eyebrows.

To do so I used DecoBrush, Brush 35, DragRect Stroke, draw size = 0, focal shift = 0. You may find it a little difficult to paint precisely using this brush at the beginning but you will quickly understand how it works and will get your best results after some training.
