    Default Critique me - Nudity

Ok, I've been working on some stuff and I don't know whether I've made a good start or whether I suck. Someone who at least thinks they know what they are doing, please critique me. Lay into me. Give me some suggestons. All my heads seem to come out the same. I think my posture and back anatomy need serious work, but I'm not sure how. I hate zspheres. And sculpting arms and hands and feet just seems like more work than it needs to. Here's what I got.

I neglected to say before but the material and lights here are the Sokar/Antropus set from back when that I learned to use through the Picasso tutorial.

    Default I'm Serious

I was really serious about having my post show up in the thumbnail row. It didn't so I'm trying again here. Most of my images are hosted on Flickr, which seems a reliable service to me, though I've had people tell me in the past that images sometimes didn't show up for them. If you don't tell me that you aren't seeing them I won't know to do anything different.

Here goes another try at getting the thumbnail in.

    Post You can host...

...all your images here at Zbc
Just use the "Button Upload image or file" but put only one "Place this image in your post", for the other press "close this window" they will appear in miniatures in your post and "zoom in" when surfers will click on it
Original modeling indeed : head seems not very feminine but that's depend of taste

    Default Thanks Frenchy

I just want the images to show up, and one thumbnail to appear in the second row. I'm not seeing that and I need to know why.

I agree that the head doesn't look very feminine, that's one of my problems. The thing is, I don't know why. And I'm also not very good at sculpting eyes, and can't figure out how to look at them differently.

For a thumbnail to appear, the image must be inserted into your post. If you upload it, but don't insert it into your post it will appear as a thumbnail below the post but will not appear in the bottom row.

Hey you got your image to show up in the thumbnails, but I would say you really don’t need to worry about that to much, I imagine there all allot of people like me on this forum who come here every day and look at t all the new post, thumbnail or no I look at all the new post form that day. You have a good start on your woman. It is a bit hard to critique without knowing what you are planning to do with her. I imagine that she is some sort of warrior woman with her build, but I still feel she is too angular, when I think woman I think soft and round, she seems very hard and angular. Another thing that really jumps out is her hips, her but is sticking out so far, a persons back has a curve of course but she looks like she ahs been in an accident. Next her neck jumps out at me, I like that you have some weight to her chin but she looks kina like a fat man on a crazy buff woman’s body. Also I fee the neck muscles are sticking out way to much. And I know its been said a million times before but get reference, nothing helps break bad habits like good reference Hope that helps a bit.

    Your sculpt doesn't suck.

You already know the anatomy can be improved.

Some suggestions, work from some really good reference.

Study the back. Shoulder blades are very tricky. Unless a woman is a body builder scapula are very subtle, as is most female anatomy. When modeling women, less is more. Your spine looks like a deformity, far too curved at the small of the back. The buttocks protrudes unaturally.

Your character is very round shouldered.

The neck is overly defined, like most of the sculpt.

If I were creating this, I'd simplify eveything at the base mesh level, get the basic anatomy convincing..then add refinements.

Always work the masses first. Get your proportions right. Then add detail. Macro to Micro.

Starting with good reference will help you to compare your work with reality as you improve.

Keep on going. This is not a bad start. the more you sculpt your efforts will pay off. Good Luck!

    Default Here's another shot

Thank you, Harmonic, for giving me a reality check. I knew you were right, almost before I even read your post, I went back at it and tried with some references today, from scratch, starting with ZSpheres.

And thanks Willbrown1, for also giving me that same, obvious, but also obviously needed advice, and for your generous praise and critique of my efforts.

Here's the new one for you guys to tear into:

Edit: I forgot to say before but the material and lights here are the Southern GDI 2 set, with a few tweaks to the material to lower bump, and change and lower cavity and specular. The skin tones are just painted on the polygons. No texture mapping.

In the 3/4th's back view, something still seems abnormal, or awkward about her butt, and lower back in that section. It may be just me, but just my opinion, like said, not sure exactly how you want to conclude this woman as a warrior per say or otherise, but still definitely a great start, far better than I could create.

yea I think the ass is way too big for her. specially when her hips/waist line is pretty small.
And where are the wrinkle around her bums? since I notice her tits are saggy and all :P
I don't know if i'm correct here but her knees are kinda bending too far in?
It looks weird to me. and my god she's an ugly woman :P

Wow! Impresive progress. The figure looks Much more convincing. However the proportions are less than ideal still. The head looks way too big especially in the side view render.

The obvious anatomical problems have clearly been improved.

    ior-calin is right.

    Keep going!

Here are some areas to correct. The ankles area is way too narrow, the back of the skull is to tall, her head looks deformed because of this. The highest point of the skull generally is towards the back, its strange to see it in the front, but some people have odd shaped skulls. The jaw line from side could be more severe. She could use a wider upper back to balance out the flared hips. The upper arms look stubby and probably could be lengthed.

I don't understand the coloring. Is she supposed to be wearing a swim suit on her face and a one piece? Or are those areas you haven't colored yet? How are the hands going to be approached?

Otherwise she looks quite real in thumbnail. So your proportions are getting very close.
