    Default Kali

    Started to sculpt Kali based on the Ray Harryhausen model from one of his Sinbad epics. Did the low res base mesh in Silo. Around 5,000 polys. So far I've done just a little tweaking in ZBrush.

    Renders here done in ZBrush with a material.

    I plan to add the rest of Harryhausen's details, as I work up the textures.

    Here's a rigged pose out of Carrara just the Silo model and
    Carrara mats with SSS.

    More work on Kali. Added her garment with skulls and her necklaces. changed the face to more closely resemble Harryhausen's version. Sculpted detail in ZBrush then added them to the Silo base mesh. Silo screen grab.

    Just got Vue 6, so I put Kali in an environment. Vue 6's new spectral skies feature is amazing.

    Default Redid displacement_color adjustments

    I redid the displacement map and exported it a 4096 px. I also did some tweaking on Kali's eyes, nose and lips. Added the normal map, too.

    I also used Carrara's shader system to even the color out and make it closer Haryhausen's.

    I've learned a lot about displacement mapping and work flows between ZBrush and Carrara. At first I couldn't make anything work. By hanging with it and doing things over, I'm feeling more confident I can make it work. kalicar008.jpg

    This is really cool, good work. I think Kali usually has her tongue out and looks rather fierce, I think this would help her be more recognizable as Kali. Also I would love to see more attention given to the legs and feet. Looking forward to more.
