My first attempt at a realistic head and playing around with texture paint. Ears are a pain in the arse to model, does anyone have tips on ears?![]()

Hi, this was my first zbrush job from last fall. I had tried posting it before, but there was a snafu with my login that just got resolved.
Hi, this was my first zbrush job from last fall. I had tried posting it before, but there was a snafu with my login that just got resolved.
Here is my zsphere construction for this fellow.
Followed by his skin
Then lots of higher subdiv sculpting ensued leading to
a check of the polygroups
Then a surface render
And next is the core of the idea. I took a leaf I had drawn in illustrator, converted it to photoshop, loaded
it as an alpha in Zbrush, then used it as a cookie cutter
for transparency (NOTE: this had to be the last step before dropping to 2.5D as Zbrush was crashing all over the place with invisible geometry. Could not even save and load the file. It took a few go's to get geom and uv mapping just where I wanted it.) This is post painting the leaves, rendering, and background having been cleared to transparent in photoshop.
Then his first application (as a gif version here, pdf too big)
And finally his placement in the forest( as a jpg here, pdf too big. Note that the margin got cropped when I did a jpg for here. It does actually have a little white space around it.)
This was my first application of Z brush, having only picked it up in August at Siggraph 06, so any feedback and or suggestions are more than welcome!
Thanks,
tom
