    Default Demon WIP

    Ive been working on a new character for a while now. He is far from finished. I could really use some feedback. He is meant for an animation for my uni character animation module. Ive tried to pay close attention to anatomy but im sure its not even close to being perfect so i could use some pointers at that. Any comments about the textures would help too as i would like to make them a bit more interestng. Here are a few images of what ive done so far.

    Default Nice!!!

    Hey meletis, you did a great job in my book. Love those wings! I'd like to know how you did those.. I was going to ask if you were going to add the eyes til i scrolled down and saw those beedy metallic like eyes,,,nice touch. As for the texture, I like it, it's not the traditional red devil... Love to see some veins in him...But who am i, but a meer newb.

    EDrake69: Thanks mate. I did the wings from a plain cube primitive in maya, just extruding... This is what my wings and model looked like in maya before i imported them in zbrush:

    And This is in Zbrush with a skin material:

    As for the veins.. they are there but i guess should paint them on the texture a bit better...

    Thanks again

    Several things that strike me as odd about the model. His expression looks like he is burping. I think the lips are oddly shaped and the mouth may be a tad bit wide. The eyes may also be a bit too big as well, he's a realistic style character and his eyes are not very frightening for a beast. I would define his anatomy a bit more and watch your muscle proportions. Definetly check out arnold shwartznegger pictures for reference. He's around a similar build to your character.

    womball: I see what you mean with the expression but this is not the final pose so he is not going to look like burping when he is ready... I agree that the lips have a different shape that what we are used to but because his mouth is so wide(intentionaly) i didnt know how to form them, any suggestions on that will be appreciated, any animals lets say that could help me form his lips... The eye size looks normal to me but i agree i did not achive a great eye shape and evil looking... Some pointers of how i could do that?? As for the muscles i see what u mean, the abs and the chest need more defining...
    Thanks a lot for commenting! Ill do my best to improve it!

    As do the upper legs and the forearms. The eyes could be made eviler by using more angles, so have a slanted down angle ( the lower part toward the center of the face) for the top of the eye. If you can't form this with your mesh, you could also try scaleing the eye shape vertically. Keep the actual eye though spherical so its easy to animate.

    womball: Cheers for the feedback, it helps me a lot! u ll see what i can do to make him look better.

    Aumakua: Ive already prepared his rig and all the controls-attributes-blend shapes and have done a smooth bind with all the paint weighting and stuff, but since i need to improve the actual model is not the final thing. Its a temporary rig for my assignment cause the deadline is in less than two months and i have a lot of work to do.... When im done with the animation ill post a link to it cause i will need a lot of feedback on that too...

    Thanks

    Ok ive defined the muscles a bit more, i dont wanna over do it so give me some feedback on that, i also changed the eye shape and added some more veins. My father suggested i should put a shade of green in the texture to make it look more non-human, if u ppl agree tell me. Ill post a concept art i did for his final version. Comment and Crits on that too please.

    Thanks

    you seem to be heading the right direction, although your anatomy can use some work. I've made an edit to demonstrate my points...

    demoncritique.gif
    (2 second delay)

    things to note:
    * added lattisimus dorsi muscle
    * your deltoid was merging too much with the upper-arm/bicep area, so i narrowed that section
    * gave the poor man a crotch
    * extended his neck (improves the overall flow of the piece by quite a bit)
    * gave his hands palms
    * fixed the flow of the calf/gastrocnemius muscles
    * widened his hips a bit (i just realized i didn't do it the the right side...oh well)

    in addition to these things, I also suggest you straighten up the very demented collar bone you have right now. and also study leg anatomy. I tried to correct these things in my edit, but it was too much of a hassle to do without the actual 3d mesh.

    I hope this helped,
    -Dan

    Indigo: Thanks A LOT for your feedback! I tried to correct as much as possible but im still having trouble with the thighs... Im gettin my anatomy book back tomorrow from my mate that borrowed it and im gonna look into it more then. If u think something still looks dodgy pls tell me. I couldnt seperate the legs more in zbrush, it wouldnt let me but ill try bring the low mesh in maya and reposing it and reimporting it in zbrush, though the last time i tried that it messed up the higher subdivitions. Thanks again!!!

    Womball: haha no he is not Jewish, its more of the Occultic Hexagram

    EDrake69: Thanks for the comment, dont give up yet!
