    Smile WIP forest scene

Hey, im new to this forum but ive been testing zbrush out for a while and i find it amazing. ive tryed max before but zbrush works for me far better.

This is project of it to test out capabilites and i am going to make a forest scene comprising of moss, redwood-like trees and a center stump which is shown here in the early stages. i do not really know how to use markers but i will reasearch it. the texture is a placeholder but may be modifyed to suit the scene.

    Default pretty good

I'd just say I'd like to see the roots, be sure to make those. Also if you're making an entire scene, the polycount seems pretty high for just that one tree stump although if it's a gigantic tree stump that's entirely called for.

    Welcome.

Do a search for trees, moss, etc., on the forum you will find a wealth of info. Make sure you go through the built in help for Markers and look up the various tool/script options posted on the forum to make your life easier.

    Default thank you everyone

it has a high poly count because i want to make actual bark geometry and refine it with the polys i pretty much already have which is 32k. i might have to up the polys though

This is also to test out poly count limits in a game engine. i am making a mmorpg with zbrush and the engine is going to be made from scratch to accomidate zbrush, as well as the nessisay sup apps and plugins to make it work with pixologic's permission. I prefer to do it this way because zbrush is so intutive for me. i have been waiting patiently and i dont think its too much to give it a shot. XD Trillions and Trillons of polys XD!!!

    Default suggestion question

I was thinking of going for a redwood like bark and texture, but i have this lighter pine texture, do you think it would look better rather than a redwood speicies of trees type scene?

im doing this image for class as well as a personal project. Its going to cronical my learning experinces and how i did it via recordings of the actual modeling process and compositioning. i will probably make a longer version for the zbrush comunity here.
For those who have already downloaded my images here, im honored that those are apreciated. Just all i ask is to use them as a educational resource for your personal use.

I really apreciate the helpfulness of this comunity so i will when i get the time make textures from my own personal images avalible to this fourm and zbrush users. they will be 7.1 megapixel quality, big image demensions and pretty much in an unedited state. and all you have to do is credit me even if its a dirivitve work, but dont sell as your own as that would be abusing my trust. i would like to see what you do with the textures, thats important so that i can see how people are expanding their creativity as well as helping me to provide better quality. As artists,we all know the importance of a texture, it can make or break what you are trying to convey.

    Default update and reworked model

project fs render s.jpg Well, thank you Frenchy Pilou for explaining things to me about alphas and stencils. also thanks everyone for posting so far and giving me a warm welcome.

i started out with the base mesh agian and then worked my way up.

It was very frusterating at first, but i kept on referancing back to what he told me and with a series of trial and errors i finnaly projected the details upon my stump mesh. pretty much everything is custom and my own high resolution photos turned into alphas and stencils.

the poly count on this is 500k but i ment to put it on the high revolution 2.1m poly version.

Default learning curve/ still alot of work to go... first dedicated 3d peice.

After experimenting in zbrush with several other images and runing placement tests with entirely different images which i will post on a seprate thread as part of a series.. ive learned alot and still am striving to unleash the creative fire that zbrush fuels within me. overal. all of the images put to gether are their lowpoly conterparts even though traditionaly the image it self if in 3d space would be well over ten million polys, bordering 30milion and i still have so much to go by adding the mushrooms i have yet to model, the funa and flora and fern like plants too that i have yet to model, and fixing the moss texture by getting rid of those white spots, but i could as well cover them with the funa. ment to be a just after rain image.. a place where man was not present ever
    heres the rundown...

    1. trees have actual gemometry, pure 3d form no bumpmaps or normals, its like a full sculpture.
    2. the gold scattered is modeled individualy totatling more than ten million polys together as in real bumps, no bumpmaps just agian pure modeled form.
    3. the ground is a plane i modelded too so the only faking is the texture.
    4. the roots are also modeled and placed.
    5. the only thing that isnt modeld is the water.

so pretty much this is the raw image without any post work just raw like a underpainting.

ive had so much fun with this image

    Default finished

its been a while since ive done anything with this but now im finished with this as my first serious attempt at zbrush i learned so much, it was 100percent zbrushed and just to give you a figure of how much i used for it the folder is about 600mb for the whole project thank you everyone that helped =) i know it has mistakes, that i could of done things with scripts, made my life easier lol but art is a journey and its life long. i may go back to it and create a better one, but whats inportant is that i learned something and i want to share with the comunity that has been so helpful =)
