Getting ready for the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie? I am really liking the first model the best. Nice detail and conceptualization. Looking forward to the texturing and a scene Keep going!

MAte, I love pirates too, shiver me' timbers!! Avast! That first model is a real beauty. May I ask how you did those small laces and ropes? Good cloth and awesome boots. The other models are nice too, can't wait to see them textured and detailed out!
They deserve a nice setting to be put into... do you have plans for that?

Tartan: yeah..it would be fun to work on a new Pirates movie..I'm just getting a demo reel together. Texturing is well along the way..just waiting until its finished before posting.

    I plan on making a small scene with the 3 of them..once they're done..haha

Plakkie: Harr...thanks me matey! The rope was done via deformers in maya.
Here is a quick little screenshot example. The laces were done with curves drawn into place and lofts along the path of the curve.

Here's some ZBrush rope (however, it's a PITA to make it ). C4D Render.

RockmanEx, thanks for the information! Too bad I don't use Maya you landlubber! I do know how to make rope in Lightwave though, which I use. But I was really wondering how you made those rope-knots on your first pirate's left arm. Could you post a close-up of that? Did you do that in Maya, or in Zbrush? It will be great to see them textured and in a scene together (perhaps drinking some grog?). There are not enough pirates in the world, so keep going!
Lemonnado, nice ropes, or cables more like, I would like to know how you made those in Zbrush, but perhaps this thread is not the place to ask that... Maybe RockmanEx doesn't mind?

I don't want to highjack the thread with my cable/rope... BUT...

Witha little bit experiment it will become very obvious!

Why thank you Lemonnado! But now IŽll have to burry this Zscript and murder all those who know about it... and return to the spot 20 years later to find that the script is gone, taken by the ghosts of the murdred ones.... Has anyone seen my parrot?

Plakkie: its buried in the dirt with the treasure!

Just finished setting up the rig (still need some skinning work) but otherwise..here it is with some of the painted texture maps applied.
Now on to blend shapes and more surfacing/skinning!

The rope thing should be rather easy in Zbrush actually. Look for hair, a great tut exists that can be modified.

I whipped this up in 5 minutes with alphas, and you can do the same with the style you are showing, sorta braided. A lot of flexibility this way.
