Gampi

Hi all, I would like to show my current project. It’s a bust and I call this character “Gampi”. This character has a
long tradition for me. I develop the Gampi design in 1999. I made many sketches of this over the years in my
sketchbooks. I modeled a 3d male Gampi with Maya in 2000. It was more bird like at this time.
Over the years the design changed to more human like creature and in 2003 I made a new try in 3d this time
with a female Gampi. But my skills was not high enough to bring it to live.
Now again three years later I have the right tools. ZBrush, 32-Bit displacements and Mental-Ray‘s sss shader
helps to make a live-like character design.
I hope you like it, any suggestions are welcome.

Cheers, and a happy new year 2006

PS: Thanks to Victor for his new year greetings, all the best for you too.

I enjoy your style and your choice of color. Since you’ve had this character in mind for a long time does a story revolve around his/her species? In any event I will eagerly look forward to the next installment!

Teach me to look a little harder (hehe)

wowsers…reminds me of the Ilea (sp?) Queen of the Damned character …ie the eyes and lips…very sensual character.:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Happy New Years

Ralf: Happy New Year!

You have outdone yourself this time. I think this is my favorite character I’ve seen you do. She is not only beautifully modeled and painted, but the design work is SOOO nice. I think she’s better than a lot of “Hollywood” characters that have been pupmed out in the last few years. Not only that, but the cage looks to be a cinch to rig for animation. Bonus!!

You have always been a major influence in my work and this is no exception! I’ve got a really high bar to keep reaching for now…

5 stars, wishing there were 6…

Looks excellent!!! Only the missing upper lip looks a little bit odd. If you do not want to add geometry there I guess a slightly lighter texture would be great.
