Painting textures using a template

Hi all,
just wanted to share something i found out about painting textures but not 3d(painting). I mean ,sometimes i just want to unwarp my models and paint the image with the 2.5d tools and see the wires at the same time. I found a workaround with material about this. Its simple , just resize the document(to fit the tex size), make the wire image alpha ,select the “wire” image in a gradientsky e.g material surface bump and then set canvas bump to 10.This way i can see(+hide) the wires on top.
If there s another way please do share it
Thanks for viewing

this is a very helpful technique. ( forum moderators) can this thread be moved to the Tutorials forum so that that it doesn’t get lost?

Heres a mini script explaining the process. For some tools like clone or shading enhancer the canvas bump must be set to 0.
Hope it helps
