your waterfall inspired me to give a cascada a try myself. all on one layer except background sky and glacier. the high one is the result of some failed resizing but i liked it anyways, because its more "steep"

For someone who did not want a competition you did a lot of work Bas
I'm afraid your method will only work if you want to refract green red or blue plastic balls !...i say refract and not reflect on purpose : first I dont think you see "reflections" of the objects in the water...only refracted colors on the surface ...and second : you changed your watersurface from an object wit a material into a "refracted" object and refracted objects refract only RGB so if you use the ball in that scene with a material-let say wood- it will not work unless that material is baked....and thus changed in RGB ....!
So unless i have overseen something..its back to the drawingboard...or you are right and i end up with egg on my face ...i'm willing to take that chance..
