Now you see what i said Bas...everyone is making fluids

But it "only" proves that you can make the topology of the watersurface...so far as i understand it you can not have a good reflection AND transparency

Maar water zonder een reflectie is als een vis zonder...fiets

This is very cool Bas!!! Thanks for the scripts!!

Had an idea, why not use the same material render first with reflection, bake at 90%, then change it so it is transparent? Am not sure if I am explaining the thought so will have to do a test in a little bit....if it works will post up what I did.

Thanks again Bas....this is very very cool!!

The best way to render water (as far as I know) is a raytracer. The refraction cannot be set in ZB, so nobody can make water in ZB.
So, what we do is making a trick with fake water. Here it depends how nice the trick is done!
A little competition is not a bad thing, Bas....if its done in the right spirit
And Zbrush DOES has refraction !...thats part of the problem : If you want refraction you must have your "fluid" and the object that going to be afected by the refraction on ONE layer ...for transparency you need two layers...for reflection you can use TWO layers or ONE.... you can use reflection and transparency for a kind of "fake" texturemapping..but if you want the reflection of an object in the water, a stick or a rubber duckie, you need the
settings of the enviroment reflection, and you can use that with "color" .."a Texturemap"...or "enviroment" and that changes the way a material looks !
And with so many people making water...who knows what will come out ..perhaps the solution for a perfect sea...or a storm in a teacup

Bas you have to understand ego jantim !!!

By the way thanks for those scripts!!

jantim:if you have this very clear,.....why you dont make an script?
you say you are not an scriptman....is an excuse....

you open ZB, you demostrate what you can do in refraction, reflection, transparency .... and at the end with your finger(right finger) press end record....then....save and put some name....let say: jantims method od refraction but true refraction!!!!

Oh my dear, how is your ego?

[QUOTE=Bas Mazur]Jantim, here is an explaination about refractions. ZB is using factor 1 only. If you can tell us where to find a way to change these refractions, we (all users) should appreciate that!

I never said Zbrush has a lot of options for refractions...just that it HAD refraction...as you have found out yourself
Never used it myself ..you have to bake the material in order to use it and the higher the poly-count the better the result ...sorry for my late reactions...just went to the computer store for setting a repair date for my "overheating"system!
There are some links if you search for "refraction" i dont know if they can help all users...but a few would be nice also !

Juancarlos...as far as i know Zscripts don't record material tweaks so an effect that has to do with material settings , as in this case, it won't work that way....and my ego is still intact
