I seem to remember a tut by Pixolator explaining how to get all these cool effects, but it seems lost on the server. Perhaps it was Aurick.

I will also assume everyone checked out this example...

Perhaps this is the thread you were looking for: Refraction info

EDIT: the script stalls on my system so here is an edited version of Winged One's tutorial

I see I was of some value. Had to help out Jantim!

Yeah I was very fustrated with what could and could not be done, but then again I don't really use Zbrush to composite or do scenes, although if I were to do an illustration these would be cool things to have.

Strange in a way, in Shake I can cheat this anytime and it's definitely only 2D. I believe After Effects as has this ability, although it does require several passes.

very cool liquid experiments Bas, Jantim, jotajota and herdmann - that trout looks as tasty as the flies look to it, Bas

these threads made me have a look at my own humble attempts to do z-water in 2001-2003 or so - had to check about 15 cds to find a few i still kind of like refraction, transparency and mostly faked reflections is what i found. most are reposts, but as the bigger part of them have vanished from the forum when Digits switched webspace i hope thats fine with you. i admit i have little to no idea of how the majority of them was done, but there are the materials, .zbr-files and very often scripts on the cds as well. so if anybody is interested in one particular image/technique or whatever, i might be able to find clues. all pics listed below are 100 % zbrush.

to fake reflections 2D-wise heres one tip (courtesy Pixolator): copy all the layer(s) containing the objects you want to be reflected. flip them upside down. now after some clever baking and such use the clonebrush with zadd-off and reduced rgb-intensity and modifier that picks from other layer to paint onto your water. hope this helps

    sorry for the "flood"
