Default BlenderToon Zsphere Example included :D

    HI all!

    ToonDINOXTHUMBXX.jpg

I have been doing a bunch of reading and tutorials on blender lately...

Blender has a new version out, and it has a full undo system now

I decided to give blender another try for animation, and I am very pleased with my what I have learned in such a short period of time. The new Toon shader is very nice indeed....

I am able to model, UVmap, group and texture all in Zbrush. This means very rapid development time ....

Here is a model I made in 100% in Zbrush.

Here is a NOTE for those of you that wish to try Zbrush with blender....

Before you export your texture, turn the FixSeam slider all the way up and then press FixSeam button....then FlipV , and then you should be able to export the OBJ file nicely...also be sure to toggle the export Grouping button in the tool-export pallett, otherwise your model will port in in pieces insted of 1 whole mesh....

I was able to just import him, and make 1 half of the armature... then I mirrored the armature, and parented the mesh to the nearest bone automaticaly....

to My delight, all the vertex assignment fell right into place for me, I am able to pose him now ...

The rigging needs a bunch of more work done on it still, but I got him some what poseable in less than 20 minuets of rigging .

Here is how he looks after a quick paintjob in Zbrush... This is an experement , I need to do a lot more work on the texture , but it is looking very nice so far... later I am going to make the flesh areas darker, and add a bit more hilighting.

The rendering is done in Blender with a toon material I am working on... Hopefuly I can make a nice cartoon animation soon :

I am going to go back and make the flesh parts darker in the cavity areas, I am also going to start outlining things in pure black to help out the toon shader in some spots....

well I got to get back to work, I am going to make another charictor today, I am thinking of a big rat or a mouse perhaps a mongoose

anyways the Ztool is atached to this post below... so if you want to disect it to see how I did something you are more than welcome to .

Questions , pointers and comments are always welcome...... hope you all like my Dino toon charictor, soon he will be moveing around

    Hi stysty

    Glad you like the tool

Today I improved my mouse.... I enlarged the eyes and shaped the eye lids and Brow....

Then I slapped some new paint onto it in a few areas...

I am Very happy with the results

    NewMouseXXXTHUMB.jpg

When I finished Rigging the mouse, I had a cool supprise
The bone I put between the ears to hold the forhead in place lets me somewhat add expressions to the Brow

Also , I planned on makeing the armature for the Whiskers later on ....
Well they are attached to the end of the Nose
so now when I wiggle the nose the whiskers wiggle too... this is going to make it easy to animate him smelling something, all the whiskers will be animated at the same time as the nose

Well that is it for today, I hope you all like my new and improved mouse

I am verry happy with Zbrush, and Blender working together so well ...

I am able to have a complete charictor, ready for animateing in about 1 and 1/2 days

The way Zbrush lets me post the model while I make it really helps me out , I did not have to export it to wings for any tweaking, I was able to add, and move all the loops I needed....

BTW, I am encloseing the Zsphere Ztool Mouse starter I used for this charictor for anyone that wants to check it out.....

Thankyou for looking everyone, I will post my lighting and materials for blender on my personel website in a few days so you too can make easy cartoon stuff

Questions ,Comments ,and Tips are always welcome
    hope you all like it

    Thanks Pilou
I hope my mouse (RAT?) is as popular as Mickey some day

Here is my first sucessful walk cycle,

    walk.gif

Hope you all like it I feel like I am on top of the world now

BTW, I left his tail stiff on purpouse... this mouse (Rat?) was at one time part of a Viagra experement... he got a very large dose one time, and his tail has never been the same

Blender is a nice little system... The thing I like most about it is the Video tutorials, and the HUGE supportive comunity.. The Undo system is a GODsend!

Well , Thankyou for looking soon I will be posting a link to my first animated cartoon

I am going to make another charictor today in Zbrush I think

You've probably read it elseware, but remember the next version of blender, 2.36, will *definatly* have a completly redone animation system and possible armature system.... should be out in 2 months or so.(hopefully january)

Also soft bodies(collision detection) should be implemented if there is enough time for it.

Excellent work with the model and animation, can't wait to see it doing some crazy backflips or crazy rat manuevers.

    COol post! Thanks MacGyver007

well if it is better then the existing one, I am Twice as happy

That last small little animation dose not do my mouse and the Zbrush work I did Justice, so I made a Bigger one

Give it a Minuet to load and it moves some what smooth

The small render I turned off the Outline, and it looses a bunch of the "TOON" effect...

WEll I hope you all like it this is really giveing me a bunch of energy to make a full cartoon in the near future... all I got to do is write a interesting story line....

I am going to go and make another charictor in Zbrush today

    Thanks for looking everyone

Interesting toon shader and very funny mouse! I like his walkcycle too!
You have right to be proud!! Sad story about his tail, though!
