    Default alien wip

Yes, i had to do it, make an alien in Zbrush .
The scene must have an alien, sort of cryo-tube and techno stuff, metal and
flesh in the style of Giger ! At the moment i'm working on the alien and his shader . The cooling fan on my computer is giving me some trouble ,so i hope
i can keep working, had a crash earlier

    and another shader variant

Cool pics, I like the first variant more with the dark hollow for a nose, the second looks like his buddy filled up his nose with cement, or maybe he needs TP for his facially located bunghole?

Yes, it looks like cement i saw a Giger-character with such a nose-plug
that one looked more like bone !
I did not make this model from a sketch, its more Zbrush 3D doodling, so
you can make things that in the end look not so great: "at that moment it looked like a good idea " isn't that what they say !

made some skinshader variations, these are blended on top of a baked layer

    Smile cool

First, the result of this work is very good, but I want to ask for a few problems***65306; after bake, continuing to bake. How do you reserve the shadow effect***65311; Because once switch to preview mode, The shadow result that is calculated at the best mode is lost .

Try using this method tdrs :

Do a render with material" A ", no shadows

Bake this layer at 99 %

Now change this material for a new 4 shader channel material "B" as you
know by choosing a new material when the old one is active , it replaces
your old material "A" ...but you have baked this material "A " on your layer
so now you just have to toggle the " multiply button" on S1 to have a
render with a blend between "A" and "B" ( multiply off) or a render with the
material "B" only ( multiply on ) Render with shadows

In this render i used this method,

Its not the shadersetting that looks cool on this model !...its the blend between
the two materials , sadicus . This material/layer blend method is a very crude way to blend materials , all depends on the way two materials will react !
Mostly i use a darker material first and do a layerblend with a lighter material
next,...other 3D programs often have beter way's to blend shaders then Zbrush
but its an option, so sometimes i use it....and sometimes it just makes your
material darker and uglier, you can combine it with a texture, or use two vari-
ations of the same material.....you just have to do lots of experiments, just as
tdrs is doing wit his rock material

Just a small update on the information of baking a layer at 99 %....in the
previous post i forgot to mention that by using" multiply on " you have the advantage of blending the new material from 1 to 99% blend and the option of using the "intensity", "saturation" and"hue" sliders !

I have posted a picture of a scene with material "A" that is replaced by material "B "

    boon01.jpg

and the picture with the blending in percentage

    boon02.jpg

Sorry for the double post in the "thumbnail"

Well in fact theyr are both wonderfulll

How does they work? is it a based on uvs material, or a kind of procedural, or light projected mat?

Thanks for the heads up Jantim!

Unfortunately at the moment the blended one will not load.

but your info as always is quite thorough so will (darn it ) just have to experiment my self.

Have been on a dig or two and that material you have on the left is really quite good! But of course!!
