    Default Naga head

I'm in the process of writing a book about mythical creatures in Asian countries and just got a site up at himmapan.com

Awhile back, I discovered ZBrush 2 and waited for Mac version to come out to use in conjunction with the book.

This is the second model I tried out. It suppose to be Naga, the almighty serpent in Hindu and Buddhism. Obviously it's still in a WIP. At the beginning, I felt reluctant to post as there are so many fine artists here. But I thought the best way to improve is to get some opinions. Attached are the test renders. Please feel free to advice.

I modeled using ZSphere with Pose-2-pose feature. The model is quite reposable thanks to the amazing feature.

Base Model: About 1.5 mil polys

With some texture (Still working on)

Next I'll finish up the texture and add the eyes to the Naga.

    Eyes added

    Another Render

    Thank you Frenchy Pilou:

Last night I did try to add in eyes but I ran into trouble. Sorry for not having an image posted to tell exactly it is. When I add an eye (material plastic) to the eye socket it looks like it's just been placed on the socket and not really the monster's eye.... Umm... I will try to do this one more time tonight.

Also there's some problem with multi- marking tool in mac version. which is not yet resolved. but that's minor for now.

Can you point me out to the right direction on compositing many objects on a scne?

    Much thank

SolidSnake...I dig your model and actually love the first incarnation of texture....the green/blue translucent one. I realize the green is more the color of the brother but perhaps a change of the who you are representing first" cuz that coloring is great and woulda liked to have seen the whole done in the same manner.

In fact, I'd be curious as to what material you used as a base!!

And I agree with Monsieur(sp) Pilou.....a very informative site. I love that! I love to learn new stuff and you blessed me with that today! Thank you!!

Thank you aminuts, My girl friend also prefer the green version. So I redid a bit and repost on this thread.

    naga_green.jpg

The base material was a modification off a skin mat I did earlier with some adjustments on various values. I didn't think it would work well until I tried rendering it "best" with cavity shading and shadow on. i'll post the mat when I get home today.

The site himmapan is in fact an idea that my girlfriend and I came up while we were visiting various temples in Thailand. We are very interested in the traditional art and also would like to attempt adapting from the legends to be 3D.

Visit often I do add new stuf on a weekly basis

I have already booked marked your site! I have the attention span of a gnat and while I can absorb huge amounts of info and retain it....ten minutes later I gotta move on hahaha. So my fav file is huge. But I digress.

I envy you and your girlfriend's ability to travel and learn from this culture that has captivated you so. I am wondering if you guys have an photos from there (forgive me if ya do and I haven't wandered to that part of the site yet) ?

I also envy your ambitious project. I can't remember while I am writing this if you said you are writing a book or if you already wrote one. Either way I would appreciate a heads up on its availability.

Good luck to you both! And may zbrush be your answer or at least a major portion of it! hahaha

aminuts, Thank you. As a matter of fact, I was born and raised in Thailand but went away to USA for further studying. Only recently that I got back to my home country. I feel like I still have a lot to learn by traveling here

ZBrush actually does answer to what I need. It's such an amazing tool!

Anyhow, attached is the material I used for the Naga
