Default My first year of ZBrush

I only started using ZBrush a year ago and I have been having a blast ever since. It has allowed me to model things I never though possible before and has really made working in 3D fun again, especially after using Solidworks for so long. Anyway, this is my second ever character model. She was part of my senior project at Art Center. I worked is Agile Manufacturing out of Uxbridge, Ontario for the 3D prints. They were able to give me high quality prints at a reasonable price in a short amount of time. I will post some more models soon!

As much as I have come to love character design my first love was vehicles. I know how good ZBrush results are for organic surfaces, but I wanted to test my limits with some vehicle modeling. I started with this speeder that belongs to my previous character model. Its meant to look like its made of junk. I learnt a lot from this one.

This was my first full figure. It was based on a design I had done for something previous and I thought it would be a fun dynamic pose. I also thought the variety of hard and soft forms would be a good challenge.

This was the second vehicle I ever modeled. The surfaces were more complex then my last vehicle but I learnt some good workflows for creating hard surface models. I really wanted to add more detail in the cockpit but time and the practicalities of 3D printing limited that somewhat. Maybe next time!

    Superb
The lines, the curves , the proportions and weight.
I look at it and it makes me feel like a kid who wants to make the plastic kit.

This is great work, and you only did this in a year? I'm impressed.

What printer did you use to print these? Was it a home-print job or did you have someone like shapeways do it?

Like I said, i'm very impressed, really wish my zbrush skills were this good, even after 5 years, lol

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread.

    Hey Anthony,
Thanks for the comment. I got the models printed at a company in Canada called Agile Manufacturing. They have multiple large format industrial SLA printers and the prints are really nice for a reasonable price. you can check them out here.
