Default ZBrush User Group Meeting at Gnomon -- The Recap

    ZBCImage.jpg

What do Bay Raitt, Meats Meier, and Taron Baysal all have in common (beyond being amazingly talented CG artists)? They were all presenters at Gnomon Workshop's first annual ZBrush User Group Meeting, held last week in Los Angeles. They may also have been responsible for a few sore chins as audience members' jaws repeatedly hit the floor during the ZBrush demonstrations.

For those of you who weren't lucky enough to be in LA for the meeting, CGNetworks has been kind enough to post a recap of the event. We'd like to encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read about how the event went and see how ZBrush is reshaping the way that people think about computer graphics.

(By the way, that really cool image at the top of this post was created by Meats Meier live at the meeting. )

Thanks Matthew. It looks like people had a lot of fun.

When are they going to do one of these events on the East Coast?
    Are you aware of any?

The PUG meeting was a really great time, I can't wait for the next one...

Here is the model that was shown at the PUG meeting, I actually spent about 45 minutes on it the night before the meeting in preperation for the demo.

Here is the the version that I made during my demo, at this point I had started to mess with it as I was answering questions. I didn't save the scene after I was finished, so this photo is all that excists of it....

I learned a lot of Bay and Tarons demo, they were great guys, as well.

aaaaww, i don't know why, but from the articles, for some reason i took away the impresssion that this meeting would be much different from the way i just read that it was in the cgnetworks article. I would have gone had i known it would have been that great. Oh well, i'm definately going next year!

Sigh why can't we have something like this in Chicago? So, we have some really funky weather....it keeps you on your toes and in the winter it keeps you zbrushing every waking non-working moment...what's wrong with that?

Cool works! I love this program and it's always cool to see what can be done with it, even if I am jealous of how little time the "Masters" whip something up!

    Ah well someday .

Hmm, I'd have expected something better after 45 minutes. *COUGH*!! May I just say "damn"?

    Thanks for the inspiration Meats.
It took me 45 minutes to figure out how you made the wireframe.
But BOY is it fun! Opens up tons of possibilities.
Thanks a million for sharing. I can't wait for your Gnomon DVDs to come out.

Well ok Mahlikus, share!! I have a pretty good idea how I would do it but to learn from the masters a privelege and if ya got some first hand knowledge here......I want it hahahaha. Of course I want to win the lottery and buy a computer from this century too but I'll take what I can get.

is alphas and pm the answer anyways? Cuz I have been toying with some alphas but haven't quite got them where I want them for an idea i had about a sort of see thru character and really haven't had the time to test my theories out anyway....so any heads up will save me some headaches!
