    Thanks nebular! ZModeler makes it really fast and easy compared to other modeling packages. I was able to block out the major shapes really fast and focus on my proportions. I used to go from Maya to ZBrush, but now I try to stay in ZBrush as long as I can.

    Did you work from engineering drawings or just photographic reference?
    As a modeler of railroad equipment, I can attest to the complexity of steam locomotives from a shear number of parts perspective. Nice work!

    I'm also curious about whether you basically went all the way with ZModeler, or did you incorporate ZB's Dynamic SubD and/or standard SubD, then retopo?

    Hello tburbage! No engineering drawing was used as reference... Only photographic references. Lots of them!
    Most of the train was modeled using ZModeler with dynamic SubD. Parts like the wheels were dynameshed with Live Booleans. Then manually retopo.

    Default Builders drawings

    Hey,

    If you're interested I could send you a copy of some original builders drawings for a project I'm working on.
