XM Studios - White Magneto

Hey guys,

This is the Magneto statue that I did for XM Studios. It was great to work with XM and I had a lot of fun in this project.

The Magneto itself was all done using Zbrush and I used Blender just for a few parts from the base.

XM Studios did a cool presentation in Zbrush Summit and showed a little about the process of creating this statue. You can check the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxhWiY3wbf4&t=1696s

Here are some images from the printed statue and some shots from events. The printed version still a prototype and may change a little during production

size! :sunglasses:

Very cool sculpt, You captured Magneto’s power really well.

Great job! This sculpt is extremely attractive!

Love it
 awesome work mate

Great sculpt, would love to know about the cape workflow. Is that a matcap (white) in the initial rendings
anyways, great work. love the renders

Amazing! I love it. Thanks for sharing.

Great! excellent physical embodiment

Phenomenal work!

Thanks a lo9t for the nice words guys, I’m glat that you like it!

d100763- For the cape I tried to use Marvelous Designer, but the result was too realistic for the comics feel that we wanted. So I sculpted it by hand. I used a plane and sculpted it using mostly move and standard brush. Once the flow was nice, I used the “extract” tool to give it’s thickness. To make the cape stronger for printing, I left it’s core thicker and the bors thinner. The first images I used Vray and Max for rendering

That is so awesome! I’m really really curious how you made the contact points for the ‘floating’ objects. It all ‘floats’ so seamlessly I really want to know how you made those connections please! It’s almost like gravity defying. those connections must be pretty tiny!

That print is amazing quality! What did you use? It dosen’t look like you had to sand it much. Did you use some kind of self filling primer/paint or something? I’d love to know!
