Macros for easy hollowing/shelling of models for 3D printing

Hey everyone! I made some macros that greatly simplify and automate the process of shelling models with precise wall thickness for 3D printing. Please watch my video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=202Ob7h-Kxs&feature=youtu.be

I’m not terribly skilled with scripting, so the macros linked from the video are a bit rough. If anyone would like to volunteer to work with me to make a nice plugin from this, maybe we could share profits from gumroad sales or something  There’s a few things that I would like to try to automate even further with a new version:

-Create a slider or numerical input for arbitrary wall thickness
-automate the creation of a “merged all” version of the model along with an automated dynamesh resolution
-put the resulting inner surface subtool into boolean sub mode and generate booleaned model automatically

Anything else you would like to see? I’m afraid I’ll need help from someone more skilled with scripting to take this much futher.

thanks for reading and watching!

Ryan

Cool, that’s awesome that you have such a huge interest in 3D printing. I also have some experience with 3D architecture and i can say with years all entire process has become and presently to get much easier, cheaper and faster. You can also click http://3dinsider.com/3d-printing-guide/ to know all guidelines about 3D printing.

Amazing!I can’t believe there are no other comments! Thank you!!!

You’re welcome! yes, I’m surprised it hasn’t got more response either. Then again, it is in a pretty rough state with limited automation but still…
