UV help

can anyone help me? what are the UV exactly is? i watched some tutorials but i am confused about it use far as i know it´s a way to texture objs? but what about spothlight does that texture objs as well? i am confused

you need uv’s to paint on your low poly model. you also need uv’s to apply mutliple map (normals,ao,spec, gloss, etc) to your low poly model.

texturing high poly model in zbrush works differently. your basically painting the points/vertex. thats why you get a blurry painted model if you try to polypaint on a low resolution model.

at this moment there’s no way to paint the uv’s on a uv’d model inside of zbrush.

hope that helps

well kind of…what about spotlight isn´t that easier?

yea you can use spotlight to project paint onto your model.
but as i mentioned, your model will need to have polys (enough resolution) on it to be able to absorb the projection (low amount of polys = blurry paint on model).
spotlight projects onto the model points not the actual uv map (though it use to do that in an earlier version of zbrush, but that function was removed for some reason)
