    Default Squishy!

This scene was created using the Boolean system, IMM curves, dynamesh, ZModeler, and the completely awesome Gizmo. The gizmo completely changes the playing field for ZBrush!

Default VICHAR BN - Beta Tests

    Hi ZBrushers !

Great exciting news! Zbrush 4R8 is now released and I'm excited to finally showcase my latest works using Zbrush 4R8.
I had the honour of being part of the beta testing of zbrush 4R8. It was a thrilling experience. The Pixologic staff is amazing, always listening and pushing the envelope and making sure that the artist gets the purest of artistic experience.
Out of all the excellent additions in this release of the VDM (Vector Displacement Mesh), Fantastic Chisel 3D brush is one of my favourite. Being a sculptor, the highlight for me was the software’s ability to mimic real clay, wood carving, oil painting feel and experience like the real traditional way of sculpting.
Earlier it used to mimic clay or wood through rendering only and not as a real sculpting. This has been resolved now and it helps to push your creativity to the next level.
First image is based on clay sculpting. This was me wondering and finding ways to create and mimic the real traditional way of sculpting and its experience, like Roughing out, Adding Clay, Removing Clay, Manoeuvring, Repositioning, Detailing. With this new version of Zbrush, it is not only possible to achieve all this but also in a very smooth and easy way.

Here are some of my works, I did during the beta test.

    making:

I started with spending some time to create the clay look using chisel 3D brush. Next, I created some clay strokes with real clay and took some photos to mimic it in zbrush.
Later, I converted this to 3d alpha (VDM) with chisel brush and played with the intensity of the brush and achieved this result, rendered in key-shot for clay feel.

    Painting on canvas

Here I tried to create the oil paint look using chisel 3D brush. I created some brush strokes from real oil paint strokes photos and mimicked it in z brush.
Then I converted this to 3d alpha (vector displacement VDM) with chisel brush and played with the intensity of the brush to achieved this result.
The process is a lot of fun. It is as-if I was painting on a real canvas. I could feel the paint and the pigment.
I have tried countless software but none of them gave me this feeling. The strokes felt very real and I could build layer on layer like real painting in 3Dimension.

    making:

    • First step i created 3d canvas and played with surface noise using alpha of canvas cloth to get the cloth texture and feel.
    • Second step once i was happy i applied the surface noise on to mesh.
    • Third step i mimicked brush stroke on an plane using morph target on .
    • Fourth step once i was happy with the stroke i used different mesh option in morph target menu to create different mesh .
    • Fifth step with same process i created 3 version of brush stroke and gave thickness using panel looping .
    • sixth step i used my VDM 3D alpha as brush and draw the rough out line of the portrait like how we do in real painting.
    • seventh step i used 3 VDM 3D alpha and used in default alpha 27 present in z brush and applied on my canvas and played with intensity and applied layer by layer it was an fun and i relay enjoyed the process of real painting in z brush.

    wood carving
Here I tried to create the wood carving look using chisel 3D brush

Experiment with the new feature Boolean tool+ mesh fusion +VDM 3D

    making:

    • First step i sculpted base model using Dynamesh.
    • Second step i created base mesh for Boolean (-).
    • Third step Did Boolean option.
    • Fourth step i created Muscle geometry for the negative space.
    • Fifth step i used mesh fusion option to fuse the Musial on subtracted area.
    • sixth step i created Muscle ten-dents mesh and converted into VDM 3D alpha brush.
    • seventh step i used VDM 3D alpha applied on base head and played with intensity and inserted some sphere for blood bubble feel and added fiber mesh for hair used poly paint and finally rendered in key-shot and composed in Photoshop

    Live Boolean system

This was a fun experiment using the Live Boolean system. I tried to achieve under water breathing. The idea was to capture the fraction moment of underwater breathing and atmosphere with simple approach using this awesome Live Boolean system.

    making:

    • First step i reused and sculpted the female model.
    • Second step i created the upper surface of water.
    • Third step for water foam i used insert sphere and dynamesh.
    • Fourth step i played with nano mesh with different size and placement for water bubbles.
    • Fifth step i created an cylinder for Boolean (7) this is how i layered out the model one top of each other and got the Boolean result (6)
    • final step i rendered in key-shot .

    3D CNC printing

I am excited to share my first 3d CNC printing using new zbrush r8 using Live Boolean system.
I got the opportunity to collaborate and work with very well-known Indian contemporary artist – Mr. L.N._Tallur. It was a lucky and welcomed coincident that he wanted his sculpt, which was very suitable for this new zbrush.
So I used this beta test to push to the next level of detail.
    About the artist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L.N._Tallur
    http://www.tallur.com/

We did a photogrammetry shoot of The Santal Family sculpted by Ramkinkar_Baij, a pioneer of modern Indian sculpture.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramkinkar_Baij

Finally created cement blocks and did CNC printing of 11x9x12 foot print.

    making:
first we did photogrammetry shoot and used agsoft to create raw mesh based on the shoot .

cleaned the raw data in zbrush.

and planed how to make those pieces how it has to be display and did blocks and used Boolean operation.i have not put all pieces images but i have fallowed the same process.
and finally i gave hand made feel to it so that it should look more Manuel rather machine finish.

    Deformer gizmo

This was another fun one, using the Deformer gizmo. I created a logo animation using this gizmo.
Like stop motion animation, this tool is awesome!!!!

    making:

    • First step i created 3d water using dynamesh and insert sphere for splash.
    • Second step once i was happy i applied transform tool and flatten deformer.
    • Third step played with the flatten deformer gizmo to achieve different stages of water flow (in this image i have not added all the stages image).
    • Fourth step i created text using new 3d text z plugin.
    • Fifth step with same flatten deformer process i created different stage of the 3d text (in this image i have not added all the stages images) .
    • sixth step i used key-shot for rendering different stages and composed in in Premier and add sound i also created an giff image to.for videohttps://www.dropbox.com/s/8x2kshiukb...204R8.mp4?dl=0

    Enlightened one
This was another fun trail using the Deformer gizmo.

    (wip)

I tried to mimic scan feel using images. Now we can easily and quickly achieve scan mesh in zbrush r8 with the help of Deformer.

    making:

    • First step took 2 images of front and back of male Trousers and used for my female model you can use side images also to get accurate result.
    • Second step i imported the image in alpha Chanel and converted to mesh and scaled it until it became plane as showed in the image.
    • Third step i masked out the pant area and poly grouped and deleted the rest of the parts and cleaned it .
    • Fourth step used Deformer and started bending and fitting accordingly to the model and used move tool for fine fitting and adjustment according to the body.
    • Fifth step similarly i made four pieces and followed the same process and achieved the result and converted to dynamesh and cleaned the joining area and used smooth peaks to remove the surface noise and removed some wrinkle to fit to the model.

in next step we can add more detail and make the wrinkle look more believable and add flits and enhance the pocket and belt region to get better result i wanted to just show the possibility we can achieve in this process..

    bathrobe

    making :

    1. First step i used brush 3d template and increased the subdivision to 10 and manually created mask.
    2. Second step i used displace brush to get individual strands (clumps or clusters)displace form the plane.
    3. Third step used move tool to get the desire shape and flow.
    4. Fourth step i played with transform alpha 3D plate to achieve the direction of the cloth.
    5. Fifth and final step i started dragging my 3D VDM alpha with chisel 3D brush on to my main mesh and repeated the same process to the entire bath roabe and while working i had saved layer to control
      the depth and height.

Ha been a great honor to be part of the R8 Beta Team, getting the chance of try and test all the new features.

I have tried to translate the capability of Zbrush to create Jewelry Designs, not only on its strenght, the organic shapes and free forms, also on the more technical stuff where existing Jewelry CAD Software are more established. Have to say that I'm amazed with the new boolean system, with its non destructive process allows you full creativity, final calculation is reaaally fast and with highly clean results!.

Found the live booleans very usefull for adjustments of thicknesses and distances.

Now, with the new, features I can say that the posibilities of create full finished jewels all within Zbrush, mainly the Live Booleans, are gonna break a lot of rules...

Thank to the Pixologic Team to give ne the chance of be part of the Beta Testers community

And finally this my last Beta Test model "Koi & Sakura Brooch", have tried to translate and to push forward the capabilites of Zbrush to create Jewelry Designs, not only on its strenght, the organic shapes and free forms, also on the more technical jewelry stuff.

The live process allows to be constantly on the fly making changes and tweaks, found great to create patterns (honeycomb) for stone setting, is commonly used to open spaces at the back to allows that as much light as possible pass through the gems. With the Move Topological Brush and the AccuCurve mode active you can find necessary pattern on each Surface.

Hey guys, I had a pleasure to test vector displacement in ZBrush which will be greatly appreciated by film and game production and just folks who is in love with Zbrush like myself.

I was focusing on organic side just because this is my passion of luck of time

A little bit about the Idea behind the concept: the center based on the map of Earth a 10 million years ago, approximately the period of time when a very first human appeared.
These time most of the continents were connected together which is a big surprise to know.
In the process, at first, I tried to locate Zbrush logo at the upper layer of the map but later decided to move on the same level as the continents so the logo and Earth merged&connect together as it is. As another hidden meaning, there is a small island at the very same place where a heart should be.
All rendered in Zbrush of course

    prototype:

    3D vector displacement alpha used:

Composition, Zbrush passes assembled in Photoshop..

    High resolution...
