Smile Gikkio anatomy studies & sketchbook

Greetings to all ZbrushCentral friends. It 's time to seriously study the anatomy, impossible to sculpt without.
I open this "diary", because I want to keep together, and in order, all my thoughts and studies about it.
In this way I can always consult this "guide", and maybe it will be helpful to people like me, trying to figure out where to start.

The goal is to design, store and then sculpt before the skeleton and then the muscles, dividing the figure into zones.
Is not the precision or to improve my drawing skills, initially I will be precise but I hope to improve and study.
I work with two books, Scott Spencer and Anatomy for Sculptor.
I also use https://human.biodigital.com/index.html Biodigital, for 3d studio.

I'm not a good sculptor, nor a good artist, but I will try to improve, perhaps with some good advice from those who know more than me.
Thank you in advance for all the advice and interventions if there are any, otherwise it will still be a "useful diary."
    thank you.

Let's start with a a global shift anatomy. Hands and feet and legs will be treated separately.

PUPPETS IS NOT MINE, thank for sculptors.

    first skeleton global studies

    First muscolar annotations and studies

    First important skeleton bones draw.

Start with sculpt and studies all bone .
    Cranium sculpt for studies

    Default The skull

finish the studies on skull. This sculpt IS MINE in ZBRUSH, not a puppet from net.

Note...for me : it's important to understain that the skull's bone form a sort of "puzzle".
The bones (as in other parts of the body) fit together to form the whole of the skull surface.
It will be good practice, study the parts and store them separately, as if it were a puzzle.
This way, you will always know right away if you fall in construction errors.
This consideration, It reminds me that studies involving bones and skulls in particular of children or young people will be carried out, as they are different.

    SKULL MAJOR BONES:
Frontal, parietal, nasal, zigomatic, sphenoid, temporal, occipital, maxilla, mandible (a part)
In this case, ALL the bones mentioned above, contribute to LA NDMARK some the facial recognition zones.
So Zigomatic bone, is important for the zygoma proportions, the OCCIPITAL BONE is important for the the shape of the back part of the head.Failure to follow these proportions, before even build muscle does not mean you have the right realism.

Now I can go over neck and torso.
they do not want to be the "lessons", I do not have the level to teach anything.
Are just the notes, considerations, which I share here, as they may be useful as "study journal."so if you read what I write may not always be correct.

SO c&c always open, talk about is exchange opinions and advice is always very good learning.
So if some noob like me, practice these studies, is free to POST HERE what he want.

    insert some SPINE studies.

Important to learn the differences beetween the vertebra type.
C Cervical , T toracic, L Lumbar have different shape. So is important because have different effect on skin when sculpts.

SPINE front and side view: 29 vertebra (7 cervical, 12 toracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacrum )

    Default Spine sculpt

    Moment for sculpt now!
Deja vu remember a lot PREDATOR STYLE

Spine with no discus or spinal nerve, because it have no influence on skin (if we think like discus start point flat).

    NOTE:
Now i know why on the back male, the vertebra not do the same "bump" on the skin.
Because the vertebras don't have the same size and shape.
So a T vertebra, make a different bump on skin, that a C vertebra or Lumber vertebra.

now the stern and rib cage system, very very hard now!
tips on how to get the curves and flat ribs sculpting in ZBrush?

    Default and rib cage

Study rig cage, is VERY DIFFICULT.
The only method work if i mask a mesh and make a "delete hide" , impossible with ZSPHERE or normal sculpting. in VERY hard.

    1 Take a sphere 3D
    2. Scale and move to make it look like a "pear"
    3. Now MASK and design the RIB CAGE
    4. Make a polygroup FROM MASKED
    5. Hide no mask and DELETE HIDE
    6. MORPH TARGET store a morph
    7. Deformation, give some INFLATE, to give thickness to the mesk
    8. Now back to MORPH TARGET for CREATE DIFFERENT MESH (createDIFFmesh button)
9 Now select the new tool and draw in viewport
    10. Adjust smooth and dectail on.
It is the only method that gave me a result
If you have a better way...you are welcome! my friend!

    Default Good Start

Gikko good start to your study however can I offer some advice with the ribs and vertebrae? (I'm in Medical Visualization and a member of the IMI)

    1. The ribs start "connecting" to the vertebrae at T1. It seems you have started the connection at around C3. This means your ribs will be sitting high.
    2. There are 12 ribs corresponding to the 12 Thoracic vertebrae, The last two varying quite greatly in length. You seem to have 9.
    3. You also appear to be missing the clavicle bone.

All the best and keep on keeping on! I would advise you hold off on muscles until you get this and anything else you spot from looking closer at reference material sorted out first.

Ops sorry for late replay, but as you can see, i'm not not expect answers here
so VERY VERY thank you for your tips.

Yes the clavicle was hide sorry.

Oh my Goosh! It's true, here the error I was looking for.
I tried to sculpt the curve of the clavicle, but unfortunately at all the tries, they cruised into the first rib!
This is why it did not coincide, it was not the clavi to be wrong, was the rib too high !!! very thank you!

I had many difficulties with the rib cage.
12 ribs corresponding to the 12 Thoracic vertebrae,

    o no.. i loose 3 vertebrae
Ok all the errors in the cage, so i It means that I studied badly, the cage must be done again and studied better.
Thank you for you feed Felix, u are great Doc!

Now finally i can start to sculpt my exercise.
Start from TORSO, front and then back. How many time make this exercise? I don't known! I think that make this till i'm satisfied of the result! :D

    Default 3° attempt

    some improvements, but no more.
We are still far, but it takes time, patience and work.
The muscle stretches are uncertain, mentioned, and so there are many "bumps" and anatomical uncertainties.
I have to focus more on single muscle, and work it with more conviction.
But being fussy is sometimes negative.
So there is some improvement and I'm happy.
I think, than the other models there is some improvement?

    thanks!
