Shouldn't that be realization of undeath?
Reminds me somewhat of the lead singer of the 90's band Suede Brett Anderson. - cheekbones to die for

    Hi Boozy!

Hmm… yes… I guess the realization of undeath is the next step in the thought process. Brain cells work at half speed in this state.

Brett Anderson, I know what you mean! Beautiful music too. I particularly love The Big Time.

    Best regards from the Lowlands,

Post Making of De Ruyter 3D print model

I've recently started a blog on my site, where I want to provide background info and creation procedures regarding my work. In my latest blog post I've elucidated the creation of a 3D-printed comic strip character bust. You're invited:

Post ZRemesher versus 3D-Coat Autopo test

    Hi,

I wrote an evaluation of the two best 3D auto-retopology algorithms available today — ZBrush's ZRemesher and 3D Coat's Autopo.

    Read the article here.

    Regards,

Many ways to skin a cat or retopo a dog.
A very nicely written comparison piece Metin .
Josesph Drust's method of using surface relief on proxy meshes to steer edge flow for Zremeshing is a nice alternative
to the curves method you described - a method that Shane Olson has expanded on to great effect in his Livestream broadcasts.
Steve James's tips of steering edge flow with polygroups or deleted polygroups is also very useful at times for good loops around the eyes , mouth and limb joints.
All in all there's a a host of so many wee tricks to control results that make ZRemeshing at times feel very much a craft unto it's self.

    Thumbs up

    Good afternoon Boozy,

Many thanks for the additional tips. I knew a few ZRemesher tricks, but not Joseph's and Shane's take on the subject.

I've included a note at the end of the article, emphasizing that retopology results can be adjusted a lot by making use of the options. This test was just to show the results of the default settings, and to show that 3D-Coat has improved a lot in the last few versions.

    Have a great evening,

    Metin

    Default Freestyle male head sculpture

As ZBrush 2018 has just been released, I wanted to have a go at the new Sculptris Pro mode.

The result is a freestyle male head sculpture. I started with a simple sphere and used no reference, because I just wanted to play around and see where the session would end.

I really like Sculptris Pro, particularly the way you can easily refine and smooth details in specific areas without the need to retopologize the entire model.

    Smile ZBrush-sculpted lights

For a while now I've been sculpting 3D models for A Little Lovely Company products, such as these cute little Duck lights.

A Little Lovely Company provides character sketches, and my usual workflow is creating a base model in Blender 3D, then I head over to ZBrush for detailing.

Due to confidentiality, I can't show renderings of my 3D model, but the final product turned out to be satisfyingly close to it. I'm very proud of the result, and holding a physical version of your digital sculptures is a magical feeling, especially if it lights up. But even cooler is knowing that thousands of children across the world will fall asleep next to my illuminated sculpture, and that it will become a childhood memory.

Smile A Little Lovely Duck in a store

During a visit to the Dutch city of Utrecht, I attended the Keck & Lisa store, where A Little Lovely Company's Duck lights were happily sitting on a shelf. I was the Duck's 3D modeler for A Little Lovely Company, using ZBrush, and seeing it actually displayed in a store results in a warm, fuzzy feeling.
