There are a lot of links to free 3D programs on my website http://www.manfreds.cyber-comics.de/...kostenlos.html. The site is in german only (sorry) but has a lot of pictures/screenshots .

If I should choose a free program to use extensively I would take BLENDER (www.blender3d.org). It´s a extraordinary mighty modeling and animation program with bones, weightpainting, skinning and much more. You even can build GAMES with it! Fantastic!

And now my super tip: download "Poser 3" for free - and absolutely legal! It was meant for the Galileo contest (Pro 7 - a german broadcasting station) which ended april 2003. But still it´s downloadable - you get the serial number per email.

Nobody should miss this super chance to get the software! Export the poser people and alter them in ZBrush! THAT´S FUN!

The second one down...thredgeholder is very helpful for creating layouts to use as background images for zbrush....either to 2d paint or create models.

If you graphic card manage OpenGl it is a real nice toys, and make your own 3d model and environnement and make your 3d Screen saver...
