undo sculpting for certain areas

Hi,

I’m new to zBrush and to this board. I am very impressed with all the inspiring work here. I like it!

I’m trying to get rid of some sculpting I did on my character’s head. Is there a way to erase all displacement information? I wish I had stored a morph target before I started, but I haven’t…

depending on what you did it may be difficult, read: impossible. You’ll have to go back to your last saved version.

This said: apart from saving incremental, it is a good idea to use layers for your changes. Not only you have the choice of using them between 0 and 100% but you can easily get rid of them if you don’t want them anymore and prefer to keep your initial mesh.
What’s more: layers allow you to use variations. Try something on one layer, then something else on another one, etc.

Then when they are done, try mixing them, and finally apply.
You can even save a scene with layers before you apply them.

example of a good tutorial. (Jason’s entire series is very good!)
