Walt

EDIT:

Updated with a vimeo for some detail sculpting.

Hey guys!

It’s been forever since I finished a personal project, so I really wanted to do this one of Walt. My goal was and is to create a next-gen realistic head sculpture, that could be as high quality as something scanned, but to try and give it an artistic touch to it. I would like to make a 3D print of him, and also try some VRAY or Marmoset full color renders. In my opinion Breaking Bad is an amazing TV show, and Walt is a legend, so I had to do this!

So it is work in progress, and I am getting it ready to be a print out as well – things to try:

  • different poses and expressions
  • VRAY/marmoset rendering
  • full color

I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on it!

Here he is with his hat!

There’s higher-res images here – http://s155.photobucket.com/user/Dryn87/library/?sort=3&page=1

The fibermesh beard and eyebrows need to be reprojected into his mesh and then resculpted some areas there, so those areas might change visually quite a bit. Or likewise be replaced with hair cards for a real-time engine.

Looks like Walt - great work.

If I were you I would remove the spoilers for those unlucky few that have not seen the show yet.

Woops – very good point Groza!

Here’s a timelapse video sample I uploaded for the detailing. It uses the dam standard brush for the fine wrinkles and pores, with some standard brush and clay work in between.

Great sculpt - brilliant likeness…

My only (very minor) quibble is the hair… I don’t know if this is a ZBrush wrangling issue but it seems a tad too thick and uniform… mainly with the eyebrows.

Hi Dryn and thank you very much for posting this.

I’m really interested by your detailing work but the timelapse is too fast for me to truly see and understand what you are doing. In the future, I hope I get to see a full face detailing video from you, it would be a bible to many of us !

Thank you so much for posting your work and showing how you go about sculpting your characters. But I’m curious how do you go about creating your base mesh be it production or personal? I’m probably more curious on the creation of it in a production environment, thanks.

Amazing and detailed work as always! Can you share your mat-cap or the settings of your mat-cap? I would be really grateful if you do that

Good job, thanks for sharing it with us.

Hi
Looks great as allways

Only thing that I dont like is wrinkles epsecially on the eyes, for me it looks too straight and not real, the shape of the wrinkles should be more randomize and the line of wrinkles should be not like straight line more variation of the shape. Hope you know what i mean
Cheers
