Default Grumpy Red Guy- PolyPainted Version...

Wanted to take Poly Painting for another test drive so I decided to do a paint job on a sculpt that I completed a bit ago.

    Max- Base geometry
Zbrush- Sculpting, PolyPainting, Posing, Lighting, Rendering
    Photoshop- Compositing

Created a quick gray scale version just because I thought it looked kinda cool

Character based on an Unreal Tournament lll concept

Very grumpy, very red. Nailed that part. Seriously the hard surface stuff is well done, texturing and render too.

Thanks mirrored. It definitely took some time from start to finish... I lost track because he was a lot of fun to create and I learned quite a bit, which was the goal.

I'd say the max/ zbrush sculpting phase took about 80 hrs. poly painting (which includes designing the decals and creating the alphas) about 15 hours, posing 30 min, rendering and final compositing about another 10 hours.

So all together about 110~ish hours. I learned a great deal so 20+ could easily be shaved off next time around

Wow, i admire artists who have the discipline to finish a project and much more if is this complex, i have tons of unfinished stuff for months, even years. Great.

Sharing what the sculpture looked like without the poly painting pass or refined photoshop compositing.

    Default Couple more WIP images...

Couple more WIP images... I was nearing the end of the poly painting phase\ expression pose. Took a few shots to ensure I was happy with the general decal details, scratches, etc. before going to the main figure pose stage.

    Marvelous!
(I've been away from this site for a year or more. I'm back Zbrushing now, because I finally got my Wacom Cintiq. I didn't like my Intuos, because I couldn't get used to coordinating my hand and eye separately. What a STEEP learning curve this is! Anyways, I'm back practicing, folks. Wish me luck!)
