3d Model Viewers : experiments and notes :Sketchfab, Verold, p3d; etc
Hi -
I really like some of the 3d model viewer services that have been popping up! It's so damn cool!
That being said, I've had some difficulties embedding the sketchfab viewer into my posts.
So this post is just a place for me to test and see what works...
Nothing too exciting, just me trying to figure out how to post stuff in forums...
If you have any tips, techniques, etc; please let me know!
edit - I figured I might as well keep some notes for myself here. Someone else might find them useful...

Reason: title change
Sketchfab ;top selection copied and pasted from viewer (ctrl + c, ctrl + v)
<code class="js-viewer-hud-embed-snippet viewer-hud-embed-snippet"><iframe allowfullscreen="" webkitallowfullscreen="true" mozallowfullscreen="true" src="http://sketchfab.com/n5lk4jib?autostart=0&transparent=0&autospin=0&cont rols=1" frameborder="0" height="480" width="854"></iframe> xerek from weirdy on Sketchfab.

...and of course it seems to work right off the bat. Even though I was having trouble earlier.
1. this was the first selection of code.
2. bbCode is next in the list then
3. simple HTML
I have tried posting to zbrush central with BBcode using Sketchfab, but didn't have much luck. The problem is that the thumbnail doesn't show up. I'll try and figure out a work around.
Just as a side note, so far Verold seems to be the more "robust" of the viewers with many options such as animation support. Although I did find it a bit unintuitive. I'm sure the other ones will catch up fast with animation support...
I started this thread because whenever I tried to embed the Sketchfab viewer it would embed a frame with the webpage instead.
I though this problem went away but it's happening again...
Here's another test. blurg....
<iframe frameborder="0" height="480" width="854" allowfullscreen="" webkitallowfullscreen="true" mozallowfullscreen="true" src="http://sketchfab.com/?autostart=0&transparent=0&autospin=0&controls=1"> </iframe> KidDracula from weirdy on Sketchfab.
I don't understand! I'm copying the code directly and pasting it directly. Sometimes it works correctly, other times it posts the whole website in a frame...
What I did here is manually input the location. "http://sketchfab.com/n5lk4ji3hf". Which is a pretty stupid thing to have to do. The embed code that it spits out should just work... On top of that I still get the sketchfab page frame. It's not a clean embed. Lame. The thing that puzzles me is that sometimes it works great right off the bat, as seen above with the xerek post. Not sure why and it's a bit frustrating. Not sure if I'm the only person having this problem. It does seem like the embed code that Verold uses is much cleaner and simpler.
I looked through all (I think) of the blog posts on the sketchfab blog/site and compiled a list of links to the most useful posts.
Posting here because I though others might find them useful...
These are all sketchfab specific. I'm concentrating on that service for now, but plan on getting up to speed on Verold next.
I'm hoping that sketchfab includes animation support ASAP. It's the one thing that it's really missing...
