TikiBot

I had the great fortune to be invited to present at the CTN Animation EXPO this past weekend, and had a blast hanging out with the Pixologic gang and all the other talented artist presenting.

Here are a few images of what I showed - TikiBot!

After a recent trip to Hawaii, I was inspired to do some tiki inspired versions of my Sketchbot character. I will be prepping the character for 3d printing and will post those results once they are completed.

The initial base mesh was created in Maya, based on the original geometry used for the master prototype pieces, and then “super deformed” into the more stylized version I’m using for these enhanced caricature pieces.

I’m also testing the ZBrush -> Keyshot GoZ plug-in, and it’s working flawlessly. I applied rudimentary UVs with UV master, polypainted my textures, then deleted lower levels before outputting to Keyshot. Everything imported nicely at 12 million polys and the renders looked great after letting it compute for about 5 minutes or so.

I’ll next be working on splitting out the pieces for 3d printing and will post up images of the results at a future date.

Thanks to everyone who swung by the booth!

-Steve
