I’m incredibly honored to share with everyone a great project I was involved with. I was a coauthor for Ballistic’s Creative Essence: Creatures. For the past few months I have been designing, sculpting, sketching, and writing along with Andrew Baker, Simon Webber, Martin Rezard, Josh Herman, Ian Joyner, James Van Den Bogart, and Aris Kolokontes. A majority of us used ZBrush for our sculpting and design process. The book is over 250 pages and filled with never before seen creatures from each artist. We share not only our techincal process but our creative thought process on designing creatures for film and game projects. Here is just a small sample from my contribution to the book.

BPR render and various material passes used for creating the final image. My main goal is to create a color, specular, cavity, lighting, and depth pass. I will also use various matcaps and photo overlays to create variation in the final image.
