Character work - Farcry 3

Hello,

I wanted to share some of the work I’ve done on FC3, one main character (Hurk), monster and NPC work.

I’ve learned a lot on this project thanks to great character team.
For main characters we used image plane to keep the close the actors face for proper motion capture deformation.
For the cloth, it was sculpted mostly with pen shadow brush, standard and flatten brush.

and lastly a cowboy character, a test character while we were working on character benchmarks etc…

A bit more info, our budget for characters was about 16-20k depending on design complexity. 4k for the head, it was kind of necessary when zooming in fullscreen.

zbrush was used extensively for all the sculpting, UV master for quick UVs, and projection for topochanges or snapping quickly low res to fit Hi-Res when iterating on an sculpt and testing it in-game

You mentioned using the pen shadow brush for this? In what way?
