Hi everyone, I am finally starting my own sketchbook! Even if I am still a beginner (started around November to learn) , I think this is the best way to have critics and help so I can become better. I will soon post pictures of my firsts sculpts.
Hi everyone, I am finally starting my own sketchbook! Even if I am still a beginner (started around November to learn) , I think this is the best way to have critics and help so I can become better. I will soon post pictures of my firsts sculpts.
Okay so here I start, this model is the very first sculpt I did with the Zbrush in November 2009. I already posted it before on this forum but I tought I would repost it on my sketchbook since I think it wasn't bad at all for a first try.
With this model I tried many different fonctions to help me build my model, such as ZSpheres, masking, alphas, polypaint and the Transpose tool. I then exported it to Maya where I rendered it with a displacement map, as well as a normal and cavity map. This creature is a boss from the video game ''Super Metroid'', I tought it would be a nice first subject because of it's strange anatomy and also because I like a lot that game. C&C are welcome.

hey MightyReg, congratulations on your first sketchbook post!
this has a very nice illustrative quality... very nice
no crits from me. i think you probably accomplished what you set out to.
Sweet! That boss battle was epic too, at least in Super Metroid.
Hey thanks for the comments invertedNormal and womball, appreciated!
So I started about a week ago working on my 3rd sculpt with Zbrush, it's an Abominable Snowman that I am doing for a sculpting challenge at 3DTotal. Right now I did 3 hours on him (we have 10 hrs max for our sculpts) and would like to have your toughts on him so I can continue in the right direction.

6.5 hours on my Yeti. Still have to cover the hands/feet with the fur and pose the fingers, as well as refining certain things.

Finished my Abominable Snowman this weekend, here is what the final looks like. Learned a lot of things from that sculpt. I am really planning to buy a tablet and pen because I feel very slow with my mouse.
Of course critics and comments are welcome.

Cheers
Fernando
Hehe thanks Fernando for the comment on my first creature
Well I started about a week ago a new entry for 3DTotal challenge `''Gift to the Gods''. what I will be doing is a Earth God (you know, like the Earth element). I want him to look neutral : not good but not evil.
Anyway here's where I am, just tell me if you see something that seems wrong.
After that I will sculpt the equipment (as you can see in the sketch)

Darukin, southparx: Thanks! I am pretty happy with the realistic result too, I really encourage you to go see the realistic rendering thread by ISK-86 if you work on Maya, it's not very long to do and easy to understand.
