Here is my latest work. I always wanted to try and make a realistic portrait as this is one of the most challenging artwork to achieve. Our eye is so well trained to watch humans that it doesn't forgive any approximation. The idea here was to create a picture that looks like an "amateurish" photo, with a flash type of lighting. The square format a la Instagram and composition are key elements of the picture too.
I wanted to do an old man that looks fragile and lost... a little scared maybe? Model was fully sculpted in Zbrush, maps baked in Zbrush, polypainted in Zbrush using traditionnal hand painting and a little bit of spotlight too. I cannot live without using GoZ too. Really one of the MAJOR improvements of the tool
That was also an incredible opportunity to use all the new features that pixo recently added in Zbrush: Dynamesh, wax shader. Some of the hair was created using curve tubes, some was done using the new incredible fiber mesh... Cannot wait to try out R4!
Tnyway, thumbs up pixologic for creating such an incredible art package.
Hope you like it!
