Default Darkeye; Clay guy gone digital- Hello ZBC.

    Hello everyone,

my name is Tim and i usually sling clay@wax about to make shapes but have been dipping in and out of ZB for a short time. bought it in 2009 but couldnt get a handle on it. started being more in to digital December 2011 and have been learning since then. Dynamesh has really helped to make it feel like sculpting .

been working on this guy for a bit and have made changes as i iearn more about the UI and workflows; 1st images were my initial sculpt with dynashperes welded together but i wasnt happy with the detail definition so i deleted the boots and made new ones in Maya(second shot,no guns).
i am now looking in to Curve Insert brushes and want to add straps for the holsters so any advice on using zb to get sharper results would be appreciated. tips and methodoly welcome.

    many thanks and happy modelling.

    - tim.

    Fantastic start Tim.

Im from a clay background myself.

Only thing I could advise would be to respect the geometry. Dynamesh is cool but I find myself avoiding it as its a little like modelling a high sub D mesh. I like to think of a low sub D mesh as soft clay with the high res meshes being clay when its harder...just for details. I sort of suspect you may well get more from Zbrush if you use zspheres to make your intial mesh then step up through the sub D levels for details.

    hey there Pete ,

    thanks for the repy buddy.
i have been having problems with a fully dynameshed piece as the X symmetry tends to be 'off kilter' fairly quickly. i did start out using a zs rig and adaptive skin but would at some point dynamesh it. before that i'd be using the techniques from Scott Spencer's books. which was a rig skinned and the built up with clay tubes brush.

i'll look again at that method. another pice i have is being built up with Insert Sphere and Transpose like Ryan K does. seems to work well but i dont understand all the implications of such workflows with regard to eventual print out. so much to learn.....

i have older images i can post.
