Can not open Sculptis

Help plzzz

Sculptis has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
I tried every thing that is in my power to fix it but nothing plz help

did you add any new materials or brush textures?

if so try to remove them just leave the default ones and see if it works then.

i know certain images
,if not in the correct format can cause it to crash.

just because it says png ot whatever isnt enough..
if the wrong bit depth or a funky size it can do weird things,
i remember having that problem with a previous version,
someone on this forum posted some bad ones in the material section.

Did it ever work ? what kind of computer/graphics card U have ?

This is the first time I ever used Sculptis I haven't changed anything and it never worked before.I installed it of the website and when I first tried to open the program that infernal error appeared

Ok, I don't know about Win8, but I bought a new Win7 computer this year, had Directx11. Mine is AMD/Radeon (ATI) Graphics. I had to update my Catalyst and install Directx 9c ..... to get it to work. Directx11 should be backwards compatible, but for some reason Sculptris won't use it. .....

Is there any way I can fix it? With out buying new software and drivers ? Or would it be better to switch to a more compatible windows and get Directx 9c ?

directx 9 should install along side directx 11. really directx 11 has all the libraries directx 9 has and you shouldn't need it, but for some reason Sculptris doesn't recognize it .... Sculptris has problems running on some machines. Your's should be ok, but I don't know Win8 .... If it won't work, might I suggest MeshMixer or Blender. Both have sculpting and are Free. Or better try good old Wings3d. It's Free, has both box modeling and Sculpting, and is a very good place to learn the basics, Modeling, UV-mapping, etc. Blender can paint you're textures, but it's a tough learning curve. There's also a Experimental build of Blender with Dynotop , more or less the same as Sculptris you can find it Here ...

What about Zbrush can it be used for 3d sculpting ?

Of Course, It's the best for it! It's just expensive. Some of the best work you've seen in movies and games was done in ZBrush!

Try the Sticky at the top of this forum " A Gift From Pixologic", .. the link there is for Alpha5, the same as Sculptris 1.02 which is the last one you can find anymore.

Yea, I've heard many ppl having problems with Win8, Older software not running on it. The bug reports for Sculptris is dead, there seems to be no more support for it, no updates coming. So it's an "As Is" thing. Did you try running in Compatability Mode for XP, or As Administrator ?. Like I said, I don't know about Win8 .
