    siyukalebtao: The shader, I'm using two Fastskin sss shaders in Mental ray for Maya. The one on the skin allows light to pass much deeper so giving a more flesh like feel the shell has almost no depth for light to pass.
    The eyes and claws etc have mia material X with glossy reflections. I have lots of maps hand painted to drive different spec results etc but that's about it concerning the shader.

    tyrellcorp: Cheers man the bg is 3d foreground elements rendered in the same scene as the louse and the planet etc is a matte painting plate that Dan baker did.
