    Default sea dragon - turntable

    hey thanks guys!

@Braga.3D: it was just plain sculpt. long process, but definitely worth it. could not have gotten a similar result using alphas.

@SwampGhost: thanks a lot for your kind works. I really appreciate it. I made the wings with zsphere retopology. pretty straightforward. If I have some time this week, I can make a quick video showing the process, if you like.

here is a turntable from the sea dragon. somehow the quality got a bit lost. I'm still new to vimeo... I'll figure it out at some point

That would be great, if it's no trouble. I would be very grateful. I'm still fairly new to ZBrush, and many things that should be straightforward still aren't for me. I have yet to do any retopology, for instance.

Thanks, Hendrik! I look forward to your next post, whatever it ends up being.

    Default Wings Tutorial

    Hey guys,

here is the promised tutorial for making bat or dragon wings. Sorry if it seems a bit long.
Didn't have very much time for cutting and editing. I already speeded up some parts, but
I guess I should have made them even faster
Anyway, hope this helps. If anything is still unclear, don't hesitate to ask.

    cheers!

Hendrik, thanks so much! Very generous of you to take the time to share your knowledge. I never cease to be impressed and even moved by the general culture of sharing and helpfulness in the ZBC forums. A true community.

Looking forward to watching this! I have a big dragon project in mind (which will probably be a while coming, yet), based on a series of books that I love, and this will definitely help me get a bit closer to making that happen.

    Thanks again!

    Terry

Edit: Just wanted to say that I took a look at the video, and you were right: It's a pretty simple process! Very nicely done tutorial, and not long at all.

    Default FiberMesh experiments

    Hey guys,

I was experimenting with FiberMesh earlier trying to find out how the fibers could get the polypaint from the mesh they originate from.
I read this in the Zbrush doc

"PolyPaint the source model with the colors of your choice. When the fibers are generated, they will (depending on the Fibers settings)
draw their coloration from that of the underlying surface."

but couldn't figure out how to do it. Maybe it's too obvious for me to see it. Has anyone of you ever done this?? I'm very curious.
I found a different way using the ZProject brush with RGB on, but I'm sure there is an even easier solution.

Anyway, this is what I came up with using Morph UV on one of my older polypainted models and then applying FiberMesh on it.
Thought it looked funny, so I wanted to share Now I kinda want to create a cute little fuzzy creature

    cheers!

    Hi hendrik
Have you tried setting up the Base & tips colorise slider in the Fibermesh tab to a really low value (0.0001) ?

I don't know exactly why, but I really like this. I think I am digging the simplicity of it and most certainly, the rendering... mainly the metal parts. Kudos, great job.

hey thanks guys, glad you like it
I did the sculpting and texturing as well as rendering out all the passes in ZBrush.
The composit and the fire was done in Photoshop.
