enough of the rainbow dragon for now. Here is a Zbrush adaptation of my sketch from earlier. First time I've created something from a sketch, also first time I sketched something for the purpose of Sculpting. got to start somewhere. incredibly early stages. but I have high hopes for this character. I hope you guys like it.

I've got most of the form in place now, I added the scyth-esque appendages, and was in need of some technical advice, as this is my first time using Dyna on a project.

If I want to be able to keep the wing segments as individual movable parts but fix up some of the polygon distribution without re-topo at this stage, should I stick them in Dynamesh with group split or leave them as is until its time for Topology? At the moment they are just kit bashed through the finger appendages. I've still got a lot to learn about the tech stuff.

    hope you enjoy.

great work, really nice creature design! I am digging his silhouette and the sculpt aswell, his face is bad ass!
Looking forward to the end result and to the beauty shot of it!
Keep it going and have fun sculpting!

Thanks Kenny, I still have a lot to learn with poly painting, a lot to learn all round actually haha, I'll get around to compositing and final render soon, I just need to give some thought to his back story and how I'll re-paint him.

For now though I've started on a cartoon character, initially I was trying to achieve the big eyes manga look to challenge myself, it proved too challenging so I've gone with something slightly more natural, still as cartoony as I've ever done, hope you like her so far.

    Thanks Muchlove!
Here's an update. I update frequently because each time I progress it's the most exciting thing ever! haha
I gave her a quick poly paint, and crafted something vaguely resembling hair. much needed practise in that field. also Played around with some expressions. need to create a mouth bag to get more smiles though..

    thanks Man,

for the general clear fabrics like around the torso and half the leg, make sure you have the selected subtool you want transparent and go into display properties and hit BPR Transparent Shading. you can Adjust how transparent it'll be in the BPR settings palette.

For the lace type adornments around the arm and one short leg, I just created a really thing piece of geometry, and masked it with a lace alpha poly painted it harsh black on white, and under texture map properties I hit 'new from poly paint' (after setting up UV's) and pressed Transparent, that makes all the pure black elements go invisible but all other colours remain visible. I'm sure there are more efficient and proper ways of doing it, I was just making it up as I went along :P

    Default VFX sculpt

My Early stage WIP of a VFX creature, all crits welcome thanks

I'm aiming for a creature that is able to dwell both on land and in water naturally.
