monstermaker - I took advice from mec4d and started with a pretty dense and very short fibermesh. Once accepted, I mainly used the GroomFastLength brush to pull the fibers out. Doing it this way allows you to sort of layer the fibers on top of each other. From there I just used the GroomerStrong brush for the longer fibers on his head and tail.
nicko - Not sure how much it will help but I've attached a picture of the mesh underneath.
Thanks again!

Another piece I'm working on. Still needs a lot of work especially with the materials and render settings. The original concept is by Kerem Beyit. Please give any feedback, crits, comments, suggestions, etc. I'm still learning all the material stuff as well as lighting in Zbrush so please give any advice you can.
Thanks!

Thanks guys! Like I said, it still needs quite a bit of work to get it where I want it though. I also noticed that it looks like he has two left feet in the last image, so I'll have to fix the shape of his shoes. Hopefully I'll have some time real soon to get back to it.
KC-Production - thanks, I've kind of strayed a bit on the shield from the original concept though but I kind of like it. Glad you like it as well.
Armand Burger - I don't know if I'll have much time to do a tutorial on it or know if I'd even remember exactly the settings I used for the stubble. However, I basically just mask a few subdivisions down and blurred the mask, made sure that the length was set really low, coverage low, density pretty high, no twist or rotation, and only a couple of segments with very low gravity. Hope that helps a bit
maciej - thanks!

I got some time to work on the materials and render a bit. Here a few shots. Please provide any feedback! Thanks!!

Nice model!
I would like to see it in different colour background.
It would pop out more.
Now the orange jacket blends in the orange background.
good job!![]()
Thanks for the feedback HerraPuputti! I may give that a shot. After looking at it again today, I still feel like he looks a little too plastic. Not sure if it's the lighting, material, or both. I think I'm going to play around some more with it and see if I get it any better. Will update soon.
Thanks again!
One more time! Hopefully this is the last post on this guy. I still don't think I'm 100% happy with it but I'm happier than I was with the last post after looking at it for a bit. Anyway, I hope people like it and will give some feedback. Otherwise, on to the next character.
Thanks!

To be quite honest, I don't really recall. I believe, I just created a fairly short length fiber with about 5 segments and pretty low coverage. After accepting, just used the groom lengthen brush to pull the fibers out and then shaped using the groomer and move brushes. Sorry it isn't exact but, again I don't really recall the settings.
