    Hey all,

I've been working on this dodo bird model from Alice in Wonderland off and on for a little while and feel like I've finally got it to a point that I think I'm ready for some C&C. I've attached the original concept art below as well (not sure of the artists name though). The attached renders are straight out of Zbrush, no additional comp work. I'm still messing around/struggling with the fiber and material settings to get it exactly where I want it.

I'd really appreciate any comments and critiques.

    Thanks!

    The artist is Michael Kutsche.

So far a very good realization indeed - the tail being the only major difference as it stands from the original artwork.

I remember using this same piece of artwork as a reference myself once! You've really done well with this, nice use of the fibers tool. I wish I had the new version so I could give it a go!
Been seeing so many cool things on here lately that use it. I love the way you've sculpted his face, really spot on and the colouring is lovely.

That looks really good! I'm new to Zbrush too, so I'm afraid I can't offer any critique, merely praise.

It looks like that black part of the beak should be thinner and not as bulbous.
And the fiber may need some more styling.

Thanks for the comments and replies everyone!

boozy floozie - I agree about the tail, it definitely needs some more work. Thanks!

EdgeArchitect - I've thought same thing and kept forgetting about it. I'll have to make it a little sharper. As for the fibers, I absolutely agree about needing a bit more styling.

    Thanks again! Will update soon!

    Default minor updates

I've made some minor updates. I made the beak a bit more pointy and worked on the fur/feathers. I think it's better than it was but could probably still use some more work. Just not sure how much better I can get it with this method and really just want to be done with this piece and move on to something else. I appreciate any feedback/comments/critiques.

    Thanks!!

I can just concur with my mate Santis, nice work on the fibers, really like the update more than the other version even though the final render is looking great already!
    Keep it going man!

Thanks for the comments guys! I was really hoping to put this one to bed, but now XombieXaero you've got me second guessing. I may come back to this at some point and see if I can get that extra bit out of it, but until then I think I'm going to move on to something else.

Thanks again for checking it out!

I like it! How did you get the fibermesh to do that?

Wow! This guy is great! Yes, how did the fibers come up like this?? Could you maybe be so kind to show us the mesh beneath the fibers?
