Hey apple... since your stickin with the Sculptris tiangle mesh, might I suggest Meshmixer .. for your armor and clothing ... the two applications import/export very well from one to the other, and you can use the Smooth Boundaries along with Extract and Extrude to make clothing from the original mesh that fits perfectly .... I started using Wings3d and others to retopo, because i wanted quad meshes I could animate ... but Here's an old thread I started where I had many of the same Ideas ..... Meshmixer works great as a companion app for Sculptris!

I'll have a look at them.... currently for full body sculptures I'm useing DAZ studio for a detailed bases to work of, however the dynamic tesilation "turns off" when I import the models.

Yes .... Dynamic tessellation off is the key if you want to keep a quad model ... you can use the button with the "X" on it to subdivide and keep quads !! ... However at any point you can move the Detail slider and turn dynamic tessellation back on .... You only need a quad model if you plan on animating it!! Statues, cars, guns, solid objects can be Sculptris models. However you'll probably want to use some kind of Decimator or Reduce Brush quite a bit to bring the polycount down .... just get a nice Silhouette and put your detail in your normal map in Paint-Mode.

Add quite a few more options ... and the extracts are seperate objects, making hard line material changes in Paint mode real easy .. It's not as easy to sculpt in, you'll want to do most of that in Sculptris, but don't forget some of the other functions .... there's the Meshmixer part of Meshmixer, and it can also "heel" holes ..
