Excellent job, BRAVO!!
Excellent job, BRAVO!!
Here are the multi-pass renders, as promised. I created my own render materials, including some for the specular passes and one for the cavity pass. Composed in Photoshop, rendered in Zbrush:

haha too cool!!
Thank you!
Here are some more renders, close-ups this time, plus a schematic of the passes I used:
Close-up of Face
Close-up of Bolta
Close-up of Mecha-Arm
And as a tribute to Mass Effect, here's a gratuitous ass-shot
Last but not least, these are the render passes I used to compose the screens. The bloom effect was added after composition.

Big things have small beginnings ...
I started a new project today, not sure if it's something I'll complete. I wanted to do three things; use some more DynaMesh functions, attempt a likeness sculpt of a famous person and play around with spotlight for references. It's my very first attempt at a likeness, and that's why I'm not even sure if I'll complete the project, it might not work out at all.
I started with a sphere and activated DynaMesh. This is about one hour in to the project, I'll post more images if I make progress and then we'll see if anyone can spot the celebrity, but for now I'm not saying who it is.

mmmm Arnold? And nice orc!
Reminds me of Ryan Gosling.
Good guesses, but no cigar.![]()
To be honest, at the moment it looks more like both your guesses than the actual "target", but I'll work on it some more and see if I can get it right. It's a pretty fun process, I never realised how hard it actualy is to see what makes a face look the way it does. I mean, I have a ton of reference images loaded up in spotlight and I'm able to see that what I have now isn't right, but it's extremely hard to tell WHY it isn't right.
But again, it's about one hour of work so far, I'm not giving up yet...
Edit: Now it says "good guesses" instead of "goof guesses", as originaly intended.

Agent Smith ?!?
cheers
Nope, not Agent Smith either.
In a way, this is a good way of finding the "sweet spot" for the likeness I guess. As long as no one manages to guess who it is, I know I haven't nailed it yet. Still, all good guesses. I think it's the jawline that throws you all off, it's very hard to get right. It's supposed to be very defined, but not so much in a "look, a superhero!"-way but more in a "what the hell is wrong with his face?"-way, and it's proving very difficult to pull off.
Here are some new shots of the WIP. I wont thumbnail them since it seems a bit rude to steal bottom row space for such a small update:
