Sculptris, Wine, Xubuntu 11.10 -- Keyboard input freezes interface

Hi all, new to the forums but not to Sculptris and other 3D apps.
I've used Sculptris under windows fine in the past. Great program.
Recently I got a 'new'(er) computer, and installed 64-bit Xubuntu 11.10 on it. I'm running the most recent version of Wine as well -- as far as I can tell.
Here's the thing, when I press a keyboard key, the interface freezes up. I can use the mouse-wheel to 'roll the window up and back down' and then I can sculpt again.
Is this a known problem? Hopefully there's a known fix for this? Plz!!

specs:
Pentium D dual 3.4Ghz
3 gigs DDR2 RAM
PCIe ATI x600 256M gfx (soon to be replaced with nvidia gtx5xx 1G card)
Ubuntu 11.10 with XFCE
Wine 1.3.28

Just an update ... Switched over to KDE and still have the problem.
Any ideas? Anyone?

I have the same issues with 11.04, I think this is a wine problem. The keys that do work (for me) are shift, control and alt in combination with mouse/tablet clicks/strokes, you can get some good results with what***8217;s available the only key I would really like to have is the H (hide) key it's a real pain not being able to use that.

Hi there! yes this problem with sculptris inside linux is already reported and there isn't any way around.
Click a shortcut, it freeze, change window, go back in sculptis and it work again. Some shortcut work even in this way, some doesn't. If i remember correctly some shortcut works combining ALT+SHIFT+SHORTCUT but not all of them are working, not sure about the combination though Try to google it.

PS: use the patch of 2 gigs, it's some old thread, to double the number of tris in sculptris, it works in linux too!

Thx. I'm just happy to know I'm not the only one having this problem, and that it's a known issue. Guess I should prolly report this in a Wine forum as well.
And yeah, the shift/control/alt keys work in combo with the mouse. I hadn't really thought about that because it just works. heh.
Here's hoping some resolution is in the works on either the Wine or Pixologic end. =]

EDIT: OK, I've reported this over at forum.winehq.org .... seeing how Scuptris isn't really "officially" supported under Wine ...

I've noticed if I run sculptris in window mode (not full screen) every time I hit a shortcut, the search window pop up, and sculptris freeze, maybe it's only that. There is a way to disable such window?
