@kaisaoase - Thanks for the stop by. Glad you like it

@CKGIRI - Thank you for your kind words, really appreciate it. Really glad you can see a little likeness.. still have to work harder to accomplish way better likeness ..

@johnchen - Great seeing you here in my thread, thank you glad you are liking them. Well he isn't that young, still pretty hard doing likeness for me. You can maybe recognize them but still missing the real likeness. Have to improve that big time. Yeah me too hopefully I get it done, udk is killing me sometimes ^^

Alright I've finished my study speedsculpt, took about 5hours. really don't have a lot of time in the meantime because of college final project. But I can't stand it I love Zbrush and totally addicted to it. Had to do something else than sculpting rocks, statues and all kinds of surfaces for the final project. This speed sculpt and quick texture took about 5 hours in complete with texturing. All made in zbrush. Inspired by one thread here on zbrushcentral, his name is Gustavo Profeta aka "guhhh" and I really had to do that one as a speedsculpt. (He definantly did a lot better result) So please don't take the details and the clothing for real, edinantly needs a lot more cleaner sculpted, but I would do a retopo if I needed to do a production model. just practicing and learning every second! Hope you all enjoy. C&C's are more than welcome. There is also a screengrab from 3dsmax using the xoliul shader, but as you see some normal problems^^

Default UDK Magical Mayan Environment - Showreel 2012 - Graduation July 2012

Hey my fellow zbrushers and dear friends

Long time no posting on here. It is always just amazing how much inspiring and stunning artworks are shared here on zbrushcentral. Thanks for the great reference images, these are just awesome aswell as the new update 4r4 I really followed the forum and the community and definantly was looking up every day, but didn't have the time to post and comment here lately, because I had to work on my final project in college. I graduated two agos and on monday I will start working as a 3d artist specializing in characters. I am really excited to show you my showreel and little work I've done. My concept was to build up a magical and fairytale environment. The project was made with udk, but a lot of stuff were made with ZBrush. Zbrush was fully integrated in my workflow and it really was used a lot. The grass of the level, the outer big rocks aren't done bymself, these were from the asset browser in udk. I used Johns ocean shader and eat3d particle effect. Because making these shaders is definantly out of my horizon^^ It was the first time I used zbrush for environment work, it was definantly a lot of fun and learned a lot from it, but my passion is definantly character art. I will tell you a little of my pipeline:

    Statues, Rocks, Roots, trunks:
    - at first a concept dynamesh sculpt, while looking at references
    - after that I did a retopo in zbrush 4r3
    - uved the assets in 3dsmax 2011
    - after the uving was done I made the highpoly sculpt and projected it onto the lowpoly model
    - Diffuse was made with usage of the Polypaint and Spotlight function
    - Normal Map was baked in ZBrush 4r3 and xNormal
    - file format to udk: fbx

    temples/walls/pillar:
    - modelling different kinds of modular temples in 3dsmax 2011
    - UVing done in 3dsMax 2011
    - highpoly sculpt in zbrush with alpha usage
    - exported out the normal and displace map
    - fully textured in photoshop by uvlayout

    Trees/Foliage:
    - A lot was made with the UDK SpeedTree version.
    - some small plants are modelled in 3dsmax.
    - zbrush was nice also I could easily make a bush in zbrush

    Programs Used:
    - Unreal Development Kit
    - ZBrush 4R3
    - 3ds Max 2011
    - Photoshop CS5
    - TopoGun
    - xNormal
    - SpeedTree

I will definantly post some WIP's and some model sheets from the project in the next days, thought I just post the ShowReel for now and some screenshots from the environment.

Would be great getting feedback to my work and hope you enjoy the video. Definantly appreciate every comment I get and I have to thank you all for the great support over the couple months, it really helped a lot and always pushed me to the limit^^ If you have any questions about the reel, please let me know aswell

    Hi there!

That's a really good work you bring us here, I really enjoy it. It's obvious you put a lots of efforts into this.
You know how to make details while keeping a low polycount!
However I think the white thingy things on the trees aren't fitting well on the scene.

    Bring us some WIPs man!

    Peace

wow Kenny, the show reel was fabulous. So much work involved in getting all that content in there. Just amazing. Congratulations for your graduation and for snagging a new character modeling job. You certainly deserve it. Your damn good. Kudos to you for everything.

wow, kenny ! congratulation and i am happy you are back !! what an amazing showreel, love every second of it... it reminds me a lot of the wonderful adventure games of myst (don't know if you recall them, they are quite old, ,,,) with their dense atmosphere. the world you created has this also, very rich, very atmospheric, wonderful images, interesting, varied. i love it :-) ... wow, what a whole lot of work you did, its amazing. as always i admire you also for what you can accomplish :-) thanks for sharing, i am looking forward for more detail informations you announced :-) ... are you planning to make a game (adventure may be ?) from it ? the environment you created would be great for that... (and, as i am not a gamer, what is udk ?)
