    Default WIP #2 - of a apocalypse creature!

    This is my second entry WIP for the challenge, have finished the model quite a bit but cannot post the final version yet!
    Comments and critiques are more than welcomed! This creature comes from the hindu religion and is a bad priest! Hope you all enjoy! Critics and comments are more than welcome!

    Looks awesome KC! I assume the obvious things that jump out at me (like the form change between subtools on the neck and skulls) has been changed in final version? Could play with some larger teeth too if you wanted.

    @Senka - You are right, but that will definently change in my version I have now! It was just a concept, wanting him to have a necklace of skulls! Yeah I made them bigger, thanks for the advice, looking better now! Thanks for the support and stop by!

    well, i could never do such good result in just 2 hours. for the modeling of the head alone this time would be used up for me...
    as for criitique, the hair throws so thick solid shadows, that makes it look like a wig. also the single hairfibres are quite thick, try pushing down the sliders for thickness at tip and route for fibres. (here i assme this is a zbrush render) other facial hairs look great ! for anatomy, the shoulders line is declining too strongly, it should first decline, and then go almost horizontal in a standard pose like this... and, how about make him look in a different direction to break the strong symmetry, and make him more lively ? when i sculpt faces, i do first with symmetry turned on, but in the final stage, i turn symmetry off and go once over the whole sculpt. i think this still leaves a nicely symmetrical face, but subtly breaks the symmetry to make the face look more natural...dont know if it goes in this timescale however. just a suggestion... a very nice work , keep pushing !

    Default Friday 13th - Character Doodle - Zintaur WIP - question about texturing

    @kokoroko - Thanks man really appreciate your great feedback and effort! You are right my renders and characters look stiff! Definently needs a dynamic pose, sculpting without symmetry at the final stage! Will definently work on that mate and thanks for the advice, I really appreciate that!

    Here is another Friday Character Special - this time Zintaur! I am not finished yet so it is still a WIP, all made with dynamesh, insertbrushes, shadowbox, curvetube brushes.. I would like to ask you all if you could help me out what should I give him as a armor and would you all texture him with high resolution images of horses or should I paint the character only with polypaint! I really have some high quality horse textures, but somehow it looks weird when I start to texture the human body and trying to make it a mix of human and horse skin/texture!     Man Kenny, you are a machine. You are so on your way to getting good. You seem to be doing all the right things in this thread - just cranking out lots of models, male, female, creatures, armor, hard surface etc. It will be really cool to see where you are at in a year. That being said, one thing that is important when you are doing what you are doing, is "focused" practice. As in, with your sculpts. have a plan, a strategy, a goal, and idea of what specifically you are trying to accomplish, based on th ethings you are studying, observing, and trying to understand. Wether it's an experiment to see how something works or what happens, or an attempt to improve on something specifically. (Like do better on eyelids or ears than last time or something.) You seem to be doing that already, but I just thought I would reiterate just in case.

    Two things I think you should really focus on are anatomy and structure.

    For Anatomy - Making sure you know and understand each specific part, as well as how it is integrated with the parts around it. Once you understand something, then you can design it and stylize it to suit your needs and sell your idea.

    Structure - This is huge. It is essentially the essence of sculpture. I would highly recommend doing a structural head study. The bones, muscles, and anatomy, organized and simplified into planes. This is essential in making your sculpts look solid and grounded. I would highly recommend checking out Philippe Faraut's books and life casts if you haven't already. This will make a big difference in your work -

    oh yeah - maybe do a horse anatomy study - sculpt in all the muscles and anatomy of the horse, and then smooth it out once everything is in place.

    - Wow thank you so much for taking the time and giving me so much motivation and inspiritation on this comment man! I am really honored hearing from an artist like you man! I will definently study more anatomy, as I am studying anatomy everyday because for me anatomy is the most important things and all my mentors are thrilling me to learn it ^^ Really thank you for the great references, I knew some you have mentioned for example that with the face plates, I am studying those plates awhile go! Really helpful and would also recommend those. You are right I really have to learn a lot and I definently will try my best and work hard. I really want to become an artist in this amazing industry! I am very motivated and inspired by all those amazing artworks which are posted daily man, that is unbelievable!

    I will definently try hard and workd hard to improve my anatomy man and will definently do a anatomical drawing in my sparetime, you know I ride 4 hours a day with the train to my college, so I better start doing some skribbles in that time! I will try to do a horse anatomy, I still never tried animals before, but I really want to because to make great creatures I definently need to learn the animal anatomy aswell! Thanks big time for the encouragement man! Really appreciate it and it really pushes my motivation!
